AN: This is a short thing I'm going to do before Chapter 65 of Persona Duality is done. Since Persona 2 needs more love on here, I figured I'd do a little thing about the Masked Circle of Innocent Sin. I'm thinking about five chapters, besides this one, to delve into the stories of the Masked Circle Executives, and finally Joker. Please read and review. I haven't decided the order just yet, but I'm thinking starting with King Leo.
The Masked Circle: Behind the Masquerade
Sumaru City is seemingly like any other place. People are prone to gossip, whether about their friends, enemies, total strangers, or any event happening. Perhaps these are vicious lies with the sole intent of ruining lives. Or maybe they are so desperate for good things to happen in life, they cling to rumours of ways to make them be. In any other place, rumours are just that - rumours.
In this city, however, things work differently. Rumours become reality. And as such, a way for one's wishes to be answered has come about. Calling one's own cell phone number is said to bring forth the great 'Joker-sama', an enigmatic person with strange powers. Man or woman, adult or child, no one knows. Yet those with earnest wishes on their hearts have them granted. Alas, not for free.
Those who have been granted their desires by Joker have no choice but to become part of his own cult. They are known as the Masked Circle, and by collecting the 'Ideal Energy' of those who possess dreams...somehow, they can bring the world into a true Utopia. Each member wears a circular mask, to hide their new role from the rest of society.
Yet there lies a dark truth behind the collection of Ideal Energy. Those who it is harvested from will slowly fade away, lacking the will to do anything. Everyone they ever knew will forget they existed. Many members of the Masked Circle are mere pawns, with no need for their names to be remembered. Alas...
Four members have a special place in the Joker's heart. No one knows why. These have become the executives, each the leader of the Zodiac houses. King Leo, Queen Aquarius, Lady Scorpio, and Prince Taurus. Their desires have been granted, and in exchange, they willingly serve Joker.
What desires were these? And what prompted these four to turn to Joker in the first place? Not only that...what lies within the Joker's own heart? One who grants desires...what are his own?
We shall look and see what lies behind the masquerade...
