Prompt #111 (Item) Locker

The slam of the locker startled her. Her neck twisted towards where the din still reveberated off the walls. Her frown darkened even more than before.

He turned and a smirk made it's self known on his lips. He slugged his back pack future up on his shoulder as he made his way over to her. He rested his hand on the locker next to hers as he leaned into her. "Hello Veronica." His hot breath hit her face.

"Get away from me Chuck." Veronica's voice was as hard as ice.

"I'm just saying hello." Chuck's eyes grew hard. "Where is your guard dog Betty? Or is she pretending to be sweet and innocent." He remained standing where he was was. Just barley touching her.

"Leave Betty out of this Clayton." She growled.

"Now why on the earth would I ever want to do that?" Chuck slightly shook his head. "If she had just stayed the sweet and innocent Betty …. Polly's baby meek little sister …. then she wouldn't be even a dot on my radar." His eyes grew even harder. "But she proved what a little lying vixen she truly is …. or as bat cazy with the whole Dark!Betty that she has going on inside that head of hers." His lips lifted up. "She's fair came now Ronnie dear."

Veronica moved forward and pushed Chuck away from her. Her hand rose to ….

Chuck quickly grabbed her arms. "If you try anything Veronica; then I will make sure you are but behind bars for a very very long time." He moved closer to the shorter brunette. "While you are in there then I would make sure Betty gets locked up in the insane asylum. By the time you serve your sentence; Veronica Lodge; Betty will be so far gone … that not even you could beg her to come back out." He tightened his hold on her wrists.

Fear entered Veronica's soul. She knew that Chuck would do what he said he would do.

"If you want to keep protecting Betty then you don't hurt me. Not physical; not mentally." Chuck spoke in a calm voice. "You leave me alone Veronica; then I'll leave you and Betty alone." He let her wrists go as he stepped back. "I just want to have a chance in life still." He shrugged his back pack back on his shoulder.

"You didn't have to go there to get me to ingore you." Veronica rubbed her wrists trying to work the blood back through.

Chuck lifted his right eye brow. "Didn't I now?" He folded his arms across his chest. "Ever since Jason's body was found at the bottom of Sweetwater river this was a peaceful, and happy town."

"How long have you done the 'Sticky Mapel'?" Veronica growled low in her throat. "How long did the Cheerleader slam book exist."

Chuck rolled his eyes. "Riverdale may have had been the classic all American town known for it's PEP … but we still do our hazing just like every other town; city out there in the world." His eyes slanted. "Everyone knew about the slam book and sticky mapel. Not my fault that it isn't talked about openly."

"That's your excuess?" Veronica rolled her eyes.

"Why not?" Chuck shrugged. "Now we have a serial killer on the loose. Someone whom we know murdered Jason. It wasn't an outside job. No it is someone we know here in Riverdale." He backed away. "Like I said the only way you can protect Betty; Veronica; is to leave me alone. You leave me alone; I'll leave the both of you alone." He turned and strolled down the empty hallway.

Veronica stood staring after him as his footsteps started to fade from her hearing. Her arms folding across her chest as her heart beat faster at the thoughts that Chuck put in her soul. She had to be able to protect Betty against her own personal darkness; and against the cruel twisted darkness of Riverdale.
