In the days before Silverpelt, before StarClan It was a dark eve in the caverns. Two cats sat basking in the few beams the faraway twoleg places let in. And as they sat, they talked. For you see, these were not any two cats. One was betrothed to the leader of her clan, the other was the leader of his. And they sat.

"My love", she said, "We could run, dash away from what our minds tell us is right, and our hearts will gallop like horses into this eve. Does not this hollow lead into the wild beyond the clans?"

"Indeed my sweet, it does lead to freedom. But what if we are mistaken, and are not lovers, but young kits, inexperienced and stupid? What then?", he said with pang of fear in his speech.

"My love, if I was not sure of what we were, would I be in this cave?", she purred assuringly.

"Verily, my blossom of poppy, we are then lovers. But what of our clanmates? Surely, they would take us as fools!", he replied.

"Then, my love, we are indeed the wisest fools in the world.", she replied patiently.

"Then, do not foolish tongues speak where they wish?", he said.

"Indeed, my love.", she replied confusedly.

"Then, o foolish tongue, share in my wisdom.", he said.

They kissed, in what seemed as an eternity. But then he heard something, a patrol of her clan. They were being followed.

He scratched her. He then bit her.

"Why my love?", she asked with tears of confusion.

"Who is your love you promiscuous vixen?", he said in feign anger, "I am not! Go to the king of foxes! Tell him how I have hurt you!"

"I will not leave you!", she replied, "You are my love!"

"You filth!", he said as he bit her again.

This time, she went unconscious from the pain. And he left, for that day he knew that she was to do should they be found, so, out of love for she, he hurt her.

And he never saw her again. He thought of her every day, but alas, she was not seen by he. And as he lay dying moons later, as it went black, he swore he could hear a voice. And it said, "My love, I forgive you." He then let it all go, dispersing into nothing but dust and darkness.
