A hundred voices rose and fell in the echoing hall. The same things were repeated over and over again in whispered voices: rebels, protests, people, king and army. Thailand winced at every one of them, both sides battling inside him. Why must my people fight now? He wondered. Why must they be so greedy? Look what England did to my beautiful country? He glared at the country and huffed.
Prime minister Shinawatra stared worriedly at the draped windows. You could still hear the screams and yells of the protesters right outside the parliament hall.
The ministers argued back and forth while searching for a solution to appease the people yet maintain control.
The cut of electricity and water along with the closing of ministerial buildings worried many of them. Yet they were still willing to squabble like children over a toy.
Suddenly a loud bang came from outside and all sounds ceased inside. A second one than a third one followed shortly. The yells increased in volume and the steady sound of footfalls were heard.
A frantic pounding on the large wooden doors and a shaky voice told those inside to step away and to put their hands above their heads. A soldier walked in followed by one of the ministers.
He yelled uncertainly: "You have all been removed from your posts and will surrender to the army immediately! We have been deposed!"
Chaos ascended swiftly.
