Chapter 1
The beginning.
Ire looked on as Sora, Riku, and Kairi made their way to the island just off the coast of the mainland. His heart ached to see them go, but he did not know why. His eyes were drawn to Sora, and for a brief moment, he saw an older boy with blonde hair. He didn't see the rest of his features because it vanished too quickly, but Ire knew he had seen it. There was something familiar about the boy.
He stood up and brushed the sand off his trousers. He was about two years older than Sora, with broader shoulders, and more muscle he towered over Sora by nearly six inches. His hair was white, with some gray streaks on the sides, giving him a mysterious look. His eyes were a deep shade of green, and his jaw-line was set with an unknown determination. His orange T-shirt contrasted with his Jeans perfectly, making him more than moderately attractive.
He walked off towards his house nearly running at his brisk pace. He felt…uneasy, to say the least and he had a sense of foreboding. He looked up in the sky to see it was blackened with thick clouds. He jumped at the sound of thunder, and quickened his pace to return home.
Ire woke to the sound of wood being ripped apart. It was a faint sound, not very loud, muffled by his bedroom walls. He could hear people screaming, also muffled. He rubbed his eyes to clear his vision and looked out his window.
The palm trees at Destiny Islands were snapped in half, and the wind blew strongly, wrecking houses and destroying property. Waves crashed up against the shore rapidly, and it looked as if it wanted to swallow up the Mainland.
Ire looked down, closer to his front door, and gasped in horror. Black shadows were coming alive taking the form of something similar to a small dog. It stood on its hind legs, and its claws tore through his front door. He heard a scream.
"Mom!" He shouted, and leapt to action. He was still wearing his same clothes, but not the small wooden sword he usually kept on his belt. "I'm coming," He yelled grabbing the sword from beside his bed and dashing downstairs.
He was met with a horror that would burn in his memory forever. His mother's body lay limply, a pink sphere floating directly above her chest. Inside the sphere was…a heart? Ire had no time to ponder this as one of the shadow beings leapt from the closet at him. He raised his sword to deflect it, but it shattered as the creature collided with it. Ire fell to the floor, gaping at his now useless weapon.
A thought hit him. Sora, I have to find Sora! He thought as he rolled to one side to dodge a swipe of the creature's claws. He jumped up and threw his body out the broken doorframe as more of the creatures converged on the spot where he had once been.
He ran in the streets, running aimlessly with no clear sense of direction. He felt a pull towards the island off the mainland and knew that was where Sora was. He ran to the docks, hoping to find a small paddle boat he could get to the island with. He looked around, and found Tidus's, and decided that his task was more important than an inanimate object. He hopped inside and began to row towards the island.
Ire battle with the waves, using the paddles to skillfully weave his way towards the island. He caught a glimpse of something dark. Red shorts were being pulled into the darkness.
"Hold on Sora!" Ire shouted, fighting vainly against the raging waves. His arms were becoming tired and he wasn't even close to the island. He gasped as a gigantic wave rose up out of the sea, crashing down on his miniscule paddle boat. The last thing he saw was a bright flash before being swallowed up by the sea.
