Hey buddy, hey pal
Have you got time for me?
Will you let me drag you out
Of your laboratory?
You ask me what I want
I say nothing and just smile.
Don't you know that all I want
Is to be with you a while?
We play golf, we race cars
We talk, we eat, I watch, you work
You ask me why I bother
I don't say but still I lurk.
You're fatalistic, pessimistic,
With the ability to make me grin.
The thrill I get from the games we play
Means I always win.
I know that you are vulnerable
I know that you are smart
And although you don't admit it
I know you have a heart.
You can be sweet, kind and gentle
You're often angry. Harsh and snappy
You wonder why I'm still your friend
