I Remember Everything (finished short story)
Remembering the first time they'd kissed a small tear rolled down his face. It wasn't a tear of sadness though, he was happy. He'd never thought he'd feel so loved. He'd never thought she'd be the one to love him back. As they lied in bed together, her head on his bare chest he began to remember everything.
*flashback to the first time they met*
"why you crying?" a young red headed boy looked up to see a doe eyed girl in pigtails and overalls with a confused look on her face. "hmm?" was the only thing he managed out. The young girl walked behind him and began pushing him in the swing. He just sat there dumbstruck. After a while he blurted out "you don't think I'm a freak like all the others?" the little girl as blunt as she's always been replied "Oh no you're a total freak but that's okay because I am to."
*end of flashback*
That was it for them they played together everyday. Most of the time she'd push him on the swing. They were best friends, that is until she had to leave the village. Her parents were moving to the Hidden Leaf for a better job opportunity and she didn't even get to say good bye. Years later around the chunnin exams she'd seen him again. It wasn't exactly a happy greeting though.
*flashback to the hidden leaf chunnin exam arc*
He couldn't believe what he was seeing. The same blunt girl from his childhood now stood in front of him for the first time since god knows when. Except she wasn't so small anymore, she had to be at least 5'9 and she was wearing black pants and a white tank top. His first thought about her was shock, then there was anger. All the pain he'd felt over the last few years came flooding back. He pinned her to the wall with sand but she didn't yelp or scream she looked at him with sadness in her eyes.
*end of flashback*
Then she explained everything, she claimed she wrote him but never got a reply. He didn't believe her and they didn't speak again for a long time after that. He later found out his father kept the letters from him and that she did write him. The first thing he did was find her and explain and apologize. She apologized to even though he said she didn't have to. As the sun began to rise he remembered one last thing.
*flashback to childhood*
They were sitting under a canopy in the village. He was watching her shove her face in some watermelon. "You feel lonely sometimes don't you?" she asked all of the sudden. He processed what she said and she waited the whole time just munching on the fruit. "yeah" he finally replied. She replied with "you won't be lonely long" and it was true many years of loneliness doesn't compare to the future years of happiness that he will receive.
