Just a cute little one-shot, so yeah. Ollie and Roy - Father and Son fluff.
When somebody would think of Roy Harper, they would think of that kid who sat in the corner, scowling at everybody else, while being way to brave.
They would be right - mostly.
The young Roy Harper sat in his oversized bed, it made him look small and young. Tears leaked down his cheeks. It had been a long time, yes, but he still couldn't get those pictures out of his mind.
Those two scenes replayed in his head, over and over, in the form of nightmares - things that stalk you wherever you go, no matter how long ago the memory happened.
The first was his parent's death. He never really saw them die, passing out from the smoke before that could happen, but those screams would forever haunt his dreams, the faces he saw while they were surrounded in the ring of fire, trees burning and falling around them - They knew they were going to die.
Of course, Roy Harper pulled through, and was found by a Navajo Chief, who carried him from the rippling flames and took care of him for years. Then he had died. That death he did see.
He had gone cold, it was surprisingly quick, and his eyes had faded, no light had shone from them. Brave Bow had died - lost from reality.
Roy let lose a loud sob, quickly stiffening and looking around the room. This wasn't him. He was the brave one.
Ollie couldn't have heard - could he?
The footsteps echoing down the hall told a different story.
"Roy?" Ollie asked, opening the door to his room, eyebrows furrowed "Oh, Roy…"
Walking over the bed, Ollie was not prepared for the weight that pushed himself into his chest.
"T-They died, Ollie" Roy whispered "A-And it's a-all my f-fault."
Ollie frowned slightly and pulled Roy away from his chest, tilting up his face "It's OK, Roy. It's behind you. Something good will happen to you, you've had too much pain for it not too."
Roy shuddered and a silent tear fell from his cheek onto the cotton of the bed.
"And…" Ollie cut himself off, before starting again is a slower and softer tone "And I know I can never replace your father, mother or… or Brave Bow. And I won't try. I'm here because you need somebody, Roy - every strong person needs somebody behind them, and I'll be that somebody. I'll always try to be there, and I'll support you in any way I can."
Roy frowned before looking up at Mr Oliver Queen, whose hand was still planted on his chin "Thank you..."
"Now" Ollie picked him up, walking to the door "How about some hot chocolate?"
Roy nodded eagerly, before looking at Ollie, vulnerability seeping through "Ollie… can I sleep with you tonight?"
Ollie looked quite surprised, before nodding and smiling. Roy might not have been his son, but he was something close.
Roy rested his head on Ollie's chest, before closing his eyes with a grin, feeling the small shocks as Ollie walked down the stairs.
"You'll be OK, Roy" Ollie whispered "You'll always be OK; you'll be great one day."
So, hope you enjoyed.
