"ENCHILADAS!" Grover shouted. A dude in a veteran suit was giving out free enchiladas. He motioned to Grover to take one.
"That is totally you Grover," Annabeth said laughing.
Rachel laughed along with Annabeth. It's still kind of weird the way they were getting along now.
While Grover was stuffing his face with enchiladas we were checking out the Chocolate Factory. Have I mentioned this before? I have a sweet tooth. I just absolutely love candy and sweets. Annabeth loves candy too but she is more of a bakery-food person.
"Caramel apples!" Rachel exclaimed.
It was driving me crazy just looking at the things. There were lollipops, hard candy, Laffy Taffy,Hershey, jelly beans, and much more! It was like an all-you-can-eat-candy buffet.
"Stop drooling like an idiot seaweed brain," Annabeth said giving the woman at the cash register her money.
I closed my mouth. I never new I drool when I see candy.
After we bought what we wanted we decided to go to the Plaza and hang out. We were discussing the importance of candy when I saw a girl who looked tired.
The girl had blonde hair and deep blue eyes. She was wearing some combat boots and some Egyptian clothing I never seen before. She had cuts and bruises all over her body and was bleeding.
"Excuse me," I said. "Do you need any help?"
The girl stared at me frightened.
"No," she said walking away but quickly fell. I helped her up onto the bench.
"I said I didn't need any help!" she said breaking away from my grip.
"You're bleeding all over and is close to fainting and you say you don't need any help?" Rachel asked.
The girl closed her eyes.
"This can't be happening. Carter...he was just alive a second ago...it can't be..." she murmured.
"Who's Carter?" I asked curiously.
The girl didn't answer.
Annabeth took from her backpack her Demigods Instant Healing packet. Who ever knew that thing could come handy. Annabeth took out some gauzes and bandages.
"What's your name?" Rachel asked.
"Sadie," the girl said.
"My name is Rachel. This is Annabeth. And that seaweed brain over there is Percy."
I hated it how Rachel was copying Annabeth's nickname for me. Ever since they transformed from rivals to bffs they started doing and saying the same things. It was creeping me out.
Annabeth nodded. "You're all set to go."
Sadie nodded and opened her eyes. She stood up and started to walk away.
"Wait!" I said grabbing her hand. I could've swore she blushed.
"We helped you and now you're all like gotta go? We deserve some answers!" I said.
Sadie looked sadly down at the ground.
"But you're a mortal," Sadie said softly.
I was about to say something else but stopped at the confused look on Annabeth's and Rachel's face. She said mortal. As though she wasn't one. Could it be? Was Sadie a demigod?
"Are you a demigod?" Rachel asked bluntly. That's Rachel for you.
"A what?" Sadie asked with a confused look on her face. If Sadie wasn't a demigod...what was she?
"Nothing," Annabeth said quickly. "We'll come with you and help you along the way. You're still not fully healed."
Sadie did not really like that idea but we were adamant. She finally agreed to let us come along. We waited for Grover to come back and told him we were going with Sadie, whatever she is. Sadie is quite cute actually, but Annabeth will kill me if she heard that.
"What are you?" I blurted out.
"What am I?" Sadie asked.
"If you're not mortal, what are you?"
"I am mortal! It's just that I...never mind."
I looked at her curiously and asked her some more questions but she wouldn't answer them.
Sadie stopped in front of a warehouse.
"This is my uncle Amo's mansion," Sadie said.
"There's no mansion," Annabeth said.
Sadie pointed upwards. And on top of the warehouse's roof was a mansion.
