Hi Guys this is a Gadge one-shot. It is inspired by Maroon 5's song Daylight. Hope you like it!
It sat on the table in the kitchen, unopened, unwrinkled like something that should never be touched. The letter came today but Gale hadn't opened it. He was afraid of the content. Madge had disappeared two days ago and he had not heard from her. The letter had come from the Mayor. Hesitantly he reached over and picked it up, turned it around and opened it. There were two pieces of paper in it he picked up the first one and opened it up. It was clearly written by Madge;
Dear Gale,
I'm so sorry I disappeared on you like you that but there is something that I never told you that I think that you have a right to know. When I was fourteen I was diagnosed with an old disease called leukaemia, it is something that kills your blood cells and then in some cases slowly kills those who have it. That is why I was always in the Capitol and that is why my hair was always perfect when you came to visit me during the night. I always had to have the treatment called chemotherapy; it was also why I could never do much it made me weak.
Anyway, the real thing that I have to tell you is that when I went this month I found out that I only had a couple of weeks to live. It was so unexpected and I didn't have the heart to tell you when we first started dating and I couldn't tell you on my death bed. When I left a couple of days ago I knew that that would be the last time I ever saw you again. Please take of everybody back home and don't ever give up. By the time you read this I will have probably passed on. Just remember that I am with you every step of your life. Promise me one thing though, that you will find another girl to settle down with and live life to the fullest and have enough of a life for the both of us.
I love to the stars and back and I am sorry not to be there with you for the rest of your life but you were there with me through mine. Thank you Gale. I love you so much.
Love Madge.
It broke his heart just to read that last paragraph. Then with tears running down he picked up the second piece of paper and read the invitation addressed to him and his family to attend the funeral of Margaret Maysilee Undersee as special guests, knowing that that was what Madge would've wanted.
