AN So, the other day, I was wondering what life would be like without Finnick for Annie. And this was born. Enjoy, please. And leave many purty purty reviews for me!

She laughs, tells him stories, and dances, barefoot in the sand when she thinks no one is looking.

He tells her she's beautiful every day.

"You're leaving me again?" She gapes with her mouth open like a fish.

"I'll come back. I promise." He smiles, the special smile he reserves just for her.

And she believes him. The mission will be a success, and he will come back safe and sound. And she will run to him, and he will scoop her up and spin her in a circle and tell her, "You're beautiful." And she will kiss him on the lips and everything will be just fine.

He doesn't come back.

X

She still hears him sometimes, though.

"You're beautiful."

She hears it when she gets her first grey hair. "You're beautiful." When she develops her first wrinkle. "You're beautiful." When she is old and grey and can no longer dance and her legs ache when she walks. But soon, her memory fades, and she can't tell stories, and she can no longer hear his voice and it kills her.

But she still remembers when she was young and couldn't wait to get old.

Some things aren't worth waiting for.

X

She is lying in her bed, her gray (brown) curls splayed about her head. She is surrounded by friends, family, well-wishers, do-gooders.

Someone is still missing.

Blackness.

X

She is standing somewhere, and the fog is clouding her senses. A figure looms in the distance, and she feels a cool, salty breeze. Familiar.

The figure is so familiar… is that?

"Annie?"

Finnick?

She wants to run to him and sob into his shoulder, but her feet are cemented into the sand, and he smiles. The special smile he reserves just for her.

"You're beautiful."

And suddenly, the years melt away and she is young again and she runs, how she runs to him, and he scoops her up and twirls her around and she kisses him on the lips.

She decides that some things are worth waiting for after all.
