Hope and Light, Together Forever

"Hey, Kari?" 8-year-old Yagami Hikari looked up from brushing Tailmon.

"Yes, TK?" The 8-year-old Takaishi's cheeks glowed with a tinge of pink.

"Um… I picked you this flower…" He said, still blushing. He extended his hand and showed Hikari a pink flower, the same color as her crest.

Hikari gently took the flower from Takeru's hand.

"Takeru, this is beautiful… Thank you, TK…" The boy blushed again.

"You're welcome, Kari…"

"Wait here." Hikari leaped to her feet, Tailmon, who'd been resting in her lap, landed on the floor.

Patamon flue from his perch on Takeru's shoulder and landed next to Tailmon. The two Digimon moved away from the boy, as they all waited for Hikari to come back.

Hikari searched around the forest, until she found what she was looking for. It was a yellow rose, the same color as Takeru's crest of hope.

Smiling, she ran back to him, not seeming to notice that their Digimon had disappeared.

"Here you go, TK." She said, surprisingly, not blushing.

Takeru smiled and took the flower from Hikari.

"Sora-chan said that you can make a chain outta flowers." Takeru said, sitting down on the grass.

"Yeah, but that's for… what were they called… Daisy's. And even if we had Daisy's we only have two and we're really not supposed to leave camp." Hikari said sadly.

Takeru, however, still smiled brightly. "That's okay, we can try to link these two together."

Hikari smiled. "Okay."

Hikari took the Pink flower, while Takeru took the rose. Not being able to make a chain, they just made the two flowers into a circle, their petals touching each other.

"Hey," Takeru said, looking at their finished creation. "The flowers look like both our crests."

"Yeah, you're right." Hikari noticed.

Takeru tried to break the circle and not rip the flowers at the same time.

"They're stuck." He complained.

"That's okay, I have this feeling that hope and light are meant to be together." Hikari said.

"Really?" Takeru asked.

"Uh huh." Hikari replied.

"Hope and light…" Takeru started in a whisper.

"…Together forever…" Hikari finished.

"Do you think we're meant to be together forever too?" Takeru asked.

"Maybe." Hikari said.

"I hope so, I love you Kari."

Takeru said, not blushing this time.

"I love you too, TK." Hikari said. "Promise you'll never leave me?" She asked.

"Promise." Hikari smiled.

"Takeru, Hikari! Time for bed!" Taichi called from across the campsite.

The two children got to their feet, leaving their flowers on the grass.

They took the others hand and walked off together.

Neither realized it when a beam of light shot from their crests. It formed into one large flower, half-pink and half-yellow.

Hope and Light together forever…
