One-shot! I hope you guys like it. It's another pointless fic with no plot but do review! :)

Disclaimer: I do not own Shaman King or any of its characters.

He wondered sometimes what he was fighting for.

Why was he alive with all his past memories with him? Memories that lasted a millennium, no less. Why was he so desperate to be the one to eradicate all humans, to cleanse the world of its impurity? If it had to be done, why did it have to be him to do it?

Questions like these would float in his mind as he killed. Asakura Hao always killed. He murdered those who stood in his way, those who refused to serve him, and those who managed to anger his normally cheerful form. None of those people walked away from the flames.

Sometimes, as he heard the dying screams of someone he can't remember, he would think: How did he become this way?

As his spirit took the souls of those he brutally killed in cold blood, he found the answer. He was Asakura Hao.

Asakura Hao, he thought, was a man of power. He was strong and ruthless. He was the one who conquered the Taizan no Fukun and reincarnated not once, but twice. He was the one who relentless pursued his beliefs until his very third life. Asakura Hao had ambition. He knew what he wanted, how to get it and he was not afraid.

No, Asakura Hao was never afraid. He had no reason to be.

As he walked away from the victims, or as he would think, sacrifices for the purity of the world, he would silently contemplate his actions. How did he transform from who he had been to what he was today? He had lived, dead or alive, for so long that he could barely remember the details of his past. He knew the beginnings, but the moment he had hit the age of ten, everything had slowly come together into a mess of memories that no longer mattered. He remembered only pain and headaches then.

Hao almost chuckled. Asaha Douji would be horrified if he had known he would turn into Asakura Hao one day. He would be shocked and…and so disappointed in himself.

Asaha was…Hao would smile softly then. Asaha was kind. He was kind and naïve and forgiving. He never blamed anyone for anything and the smallest thing made him smile. But most of all, Asaha Douji was weak. He couldn't protect himself. He was always hit and yelled at and pushed around. And in the end, he couldn't protect what mattered the most to him.

It was Asaha that cried when his mother died.

It was Asaha that wished to become a demon so he wouldn't hurt anymore.

It was Asaha that landed him the curse of Reishi.

And as expected, in the end, it was Asaha Douji who decided to change his name to Asakura Hao because he was too weak to face the world. Hao was everything that Asaha could not be.

Yet, it was only because of Asaha that Hao was brave. Because it was Asaha that had been the living proof that one becomes prey without power and strength.

One day, as Asakura Hao came back from one of the matches – he had let them live this time – he realized why his thoughts bothered him so much.

He was Asakura Hao, but at the same time, he was Asaha Douji as well.

He stood between them, holding them together because one couldn't exist without the other. Maybe Asaha could have survived without Hao. But then he would have died long ago. Given up to the harsh reality of the world and just…went.

Everyone always thought that it was Asakura Hao and Asakura Yoh that were one.

What they didn't know was that it was never the Asakura twins.

It had always been Asaha Douji.

Because he was everything he never turned out to be.
