Wishful thinking

Okay Rose women up you can do this, its one day, Eddie needs you, Mason needs you... well needed you but you let him die. It should of been you, you should of saved him.. but you where to week. Pathetic.

I dressed in my black dress, Mason always loved it on me, over it I wore our group jumper. Before mine and Lissa's vacation, Mase, Ed and I all got a personalized black sweatshirt's that we would wear whenever we went out. Mase had gotten ginger ninja on his, it was a joke that had been going on since we where little. Eddie had king of the castle on his and I have Bad-ass Hathaway chick on mine. On the front we had a picture of all of us, it was taken when we where all fourteen, we where standing outside...and we where very, very drunk.

I wanted his funeral to be special all of the guardians would be there, most of the novices and a select few of mori's, as well as Mason mother and siblings. Nobody was allowed to wear black (well except me and Eddie.) Mase always said that he wouldn't want his funeral black. I took a deep breath and walked out my dorm, carrying Masons sweatshirt and a silver stake. The funeral would be held outside in the place me and Mase met. Chairs were placed neatly in a line with a gap in the middle. It was simple. As I walked down to I got pitiful glances from the crowd, I turned my face towards the ground and carried on walking.

It was decided that me and Eddie would host the funeral as Mase didn't believe in god. I was the last one, the funeral had started. I took a deep breath and walked onto the platform.

"Hi everyone, and thanks for coming. Um um" I started as I finished I could feel the tears starting to fall and the crowd looking at me in pity, I met Dimitri gaze, he smiled sympathetically at me. Eddie grabbed hold of my hand and held it tightly. I didn't even realise he was behind me, I looked up him, and he gave me a small smile of encouragement.

"Well, I guess I betta tell you a bit about mine and Mase's friendship. It was fun and happy, we met right on this spot. A/N I'm making this bit up as it isn't in the book) It was everyone's first day, he puffed up his chest and came waddling over shouting Rosie-Posie, and Eddie, being the faithful sidekick stood behind him laughing. We had been great friends ever since, Mason always knew how to cheer me up. But we didn't always follow the school rules." A few people laughed and nodded in agreement.

"Especially in guardian Altos class." The said man looked up and grinned at us. "We have been kicked out of that way to many times to count. Mason was always brave and ready to fight sometimes a little to early" I smiled a small smile "but no matter what dead or alive he was and still is my brother and I love him always have, always will. But even though he's gone he will always be here in mine and Eddie's heart he always will be, and Mason if your watching, first learn to listen to instructions and second I'm sorry, I love you and I'll never let you go never, and its going to be hard without you. I love you big bro I love you." I didn't realize I was crying until Eddie hugged me. He whisper into my ear. "Do you want me to finish" I nodded and he let me go. I moved to the back of the stage and got control of myself.

"Well Rose has said it all. We are going to miss you Mase. forever, and I promise I will look after Rose for you and everybody else you love, and one day I will join you again just keep waiting, and we will find you."

Everybody stood up and clapped. They brought in Masons coffin in was orange, I couldn't help but laugh. He had insisted this. As it went past everybody saluted, even the mori,(Though they where confused-guardian funerals where different to mori) It came up to the place were it was going to be buried and me and Eddie saluted. I kissed my fingers and but them on the coffin. Then me and Eddie grabbed his sweatshirt, opened the coffin and put it over him and put the silver stake in his hands.

I hoped there was a way I could make him come back but that was just wishful thinking.
