"Hey dude!" Beast Boy smiled, holding something green and tubular. Don't even think about it. It was a fruit. Raven was the only one in the Ops. Room at the time.
"Beast Boy…what- are you holding a banana?" Raven asked. She looked up from her book, a trifle annoyed. Scratch that- really annoyed.
"Because, Raven, I found it outside." She stared at him. What kind of shotty logic was that?
"And…?" She asked, putting down her book. She was ashamed to say that she was interested.
"Well…I found it outside the door. On our doorstep, actually. So I figured it was abandoned. And I felt bad...so I took inside, raised it to be my own, and now I'm showing it to you." Beast Boy smiled.
"And yet it's still not ripe…" Raven rolled her eyes, picking up her book.
"Do you want to know what I'm naming it?" Beast Boy asked, waving the green banana in her face. She groaned.
"I don't care-"
"You cared enough to respond." Raven was at a loss for words. She simply put down her book and looked at him, absolute simplicity in her eyes.
"What's its name Beast Boy?" He was grinning a full on grin from his ear to…the other ear. Ear to ear that's right!
"His name is Fernando. He's from Chiquita." Raven rolled her eyes again.
"That's fascinating. It really is; but I'm in the middle of the last chapter and I want to finish-"
"He dies. I googled it."
"Beast Boy-" Her eyes drifted shut in annoyance.
"Shut up." Her eyes flew open. It was a French accent not Beast Boy…which I guess wasn't as bad.
"Wha-"
"That's right purple-you. You've been a bullying, stupid, rude old witch!" Raven slowly turned her head to Beast Boy's hand. There was a banana. He had an eyepatch, a goatee, and a long, curly mustache. He was standing up. And he was eyeing Raven with hatred in his eyes.
"What are you-"
"I overheard Greenie right here talking about it in his room. And I just want to say that you've been a huge b-" Beast Boy clapped a hand over his mouth, blushing.
"Raven-I-I-I never said any of that." It wouldn't take an empath to figure out he was lying; he was sweating and grinning. Dead giveaway.
"Beast Boy…do you really think I'm all of that?" Raven seemed so genuinely hurt that Beast Boy had to wince.
"No…I mean, yes. MAYBE! Sort of…yes. I do." Beast Boy grasped Fernando tightly in his hand, almost squishing him.
"You think I intentionally put you down? You think I find fun in all of this?" Raven's expressive eyes leaked a tear. And Beast Boy instantly felt guilty.
"Well…you smile…so…" He trailed off awkwardly, looking away from her. Raven floated up to Beast Boy.
"Just because I smile doesn't mean I like it. There's a reason I put you down more than the others, Beast Boy. I like you." Beast Boy's eyes went wide. Did she mean she liked him? Or did she 'like' him? Oh the unbearable solemnity of being sixteen.
"Wha-" But she was gone. So he was all alone, calculating the honest emotion of that statement. Some day he'd have to thank that meddling French banana. For improving his relationship with Raven.
Does a banana count as an OC? Oh well. Review and Favorite. Grammar Nazis and Flamers welcome.
