Cassie was unpacking her things at her new foster home while the other kids were playing outside her room. She was transferred to another foster home from New Zealand. She finish unpacking, and took out her ring that belongs to her mother, and had it ever since she was a baby. She sighed as she put it back in a box, and heard her foster mother come in. "You ok sweety?" She asked as she sat down on her bed. "Yeah just thinking of my real mother, and who she looks like. I know its a bet too late since its dark, but think if I could take a walk around the beach for a while?" Cassie asked feeling like going for a swim in the ocean. "Sure make sure you get back by 10:00 since everyone goes to bed at that hour. Before I forget you'll be starting Suncoast High in two days so you would have to meet the principal to get registered. You could check the town tomorrow so you could get use to the Golden Coast." She said as Cassie nodded, and left. She arrived at the coast seeing a island not far from here. She head jump into the water, and became a mermaid. As she swam to the island as notice a bunch of mermaids doing some ceremonial thing during the full moon. She hid behind the rocks as she watches quietly till a wave like force almost pushed her that stop the ceremony as well. She quickly swam back to shore hoping she doesn't get notice not knowing that she was spotted by one of them.
She got back on land, and dry her tail with her heat, and regain her legs as she headed back to her foster home. The next morning she got up, and ate breakfast, and left the foster heading back to the beach. She notice a mermaid looking at her, and pointed her to a secluded area at the beach to talk. She nodded, and ran over there, and walk up to the shore seeing the mermaid again. "I know you were that mermaid from last night." The mermaid said as Cassie gasped with fear. "I wasn't in a pod nor live in the ocean. I was found on land as a baby with a moon ring, and discover my tail, and powers from a sea cave in New Zealand." Cassie said panicking as the other mermaid quietly calms her down. "It's ok I know your type since there very rare." She said as Cassie sigh in relief. "So that force last night what happen?" Cassie asked as the mermaid sighed. "A land boy fell into the moon pool of Mako Island. Because of that the pod has to leave the island. Only my sister, and her friends are outcasted for breaking the laws of Mako. There names are Lyla, Nixie, and Sirena. To show that you met me, and you could help them show the three of them this." She said giving Cassie a moonlike seashell. "This will show that they could trust you. My name is Aquata." Aquata said to her. "Cassie" Cassie said as Aquata swam away to tell her sister, and her friends the bad news. She found some string, and made the moonlike shell as a necklace, and walk away noticing a blue fish tail, but ignores it as she walks back to the beach town.
