AN: My first GDW fic. Angsty and depressing but hey those are always the good ones! I've always wondered if Sakura ever held some hostility towards Gin during the period where he left to travel. Probably not from how Yoshihiro wrote her character, but I felt that she could've and she should've. And so this was the result. Short, sweet, and simple.
She felt betrayed.
He said that he was going to be gone for a bit, go and meet up with his old friends and help bury the dead, but he had promised he would return to her soon. And she believed him.
But soon time went by and he still did not return. Lucy convinced her to leave Ohu, telling her over and over again that he was dead, that he was never coming back. And she believed her.
She left Ohu but did not expect for life to be so hard on her own. Not only that, but she was having a hard time trying not to think about him and how he betrayed her. In the weeks following she gave birth to three beautiful sons, two of whom resembled him. She was disappointed. One was because she wanted daughters and two was because they looked like him.
Soon she got sick and she couldn't care for her three sons. A dog, Saheiji, had been passing when she asked if he could take her two sons. He accepted and took her two oldest sons, leaving her with the runt of the litter. She cared for him as best as she could, though there were days when she couldn't help but feel resentment towards him because he looked like him, the male who had betrayed her, torn her heart in half.
Eventually she had gotten too sick to take care of herself and her son anymore. Her son instead took up that role, hunting for the both of them, varying between success and failure. She tried to be cheerful for him, telling him that she was going to be alright, but there were days when she gathered dark thoughts. She wanted to leave; she didn't want the pup anymore because it was his. She wanted to be washed clean of him. He hurt her so much when he lied.
She counted the days, knowing that she was never going to pull out of this. In the beginning she inwardly despised her young son because it was his but during her declining months; she grew to accept him as her son. She would entertain him with stories about his legendary father, ignoring the hurt it brought her while she was telling him.
Once she thought she would die happily with her lover and their pups in the peaceful and beautiful land of Ohu.
Instead she died as she lived the last few months – a broken blossom.
