Chapter 1: A New Beginning

During the final moments of the popular game Yggdrasil a young player, Miura Tadase aka. Dark Identity, with his companion also a special pleiades, Nadia Wildfang Foxtrot, doing hunting near their territory of the AinzOoal Gown guild.

Nadia was a werewolf girl with white hair, purple eyes, a pale skin, wearing a silver light-battle armor with a black cloth under her armor, leather bags that hold various items like potions, poison and other things. She was mostly a rogue type fighter but sometimes she likes to use heavy gauntlets or a special short daggers when she likes to be personal.

I was a greater Doppelgänger level 100 using a dark purple robe, under a dark steel armor but sometimes I kind of change to a light armor like, because I was a hybrid fighter that can change between mage and warrior, but I liked mostly mage because of the range. To hide from human races I used a special mask like a jester, a white black mask. But now like I said before, I was wearing a heavy armor like because of a hunting we were doing.

"Pheew, this should be enough." I sighed of relief after getting a grand amount of monster loot. "Guess I should reunite with Momonga before the game ends."

I was just returning to the guild with Nadia following me from behind as a companion. There was just silence as we were returning to the guild. Guess the customization I made that she was serious to which would bring harm to her master. But anyway, playing Yggdrasil and meeting players such as me, a heteromorphic race, making the greatest guild of the world comes to an end. I almost felt sad until I looked at the timer of the game coming to an end. I closed my eyes thinking the server would close and then open my eyes to the 'real' world but something unexpected happened.

"Huh?" I wonder as I open my eyes and still being inside the game. What is happening? Why I am still in my character?, I thought in panic, looking at my body as someone speaks from behind and I turned to see.

"Lord Identity? Is something wrong?" A girly voice asked me as if she was real, the only one present behind me was Nadia.

"N-Nadia?" I stuttered in disbelief.

"Yes, my lord?" Nadia leans closer with a curious expression.

WHAT'S THE MEANING OF THIS? WHEN NPCS COULD TALK BRIEFLY?, I thought-panicked trying to understand the situation. As I try to compose myself, cleaning my throat, I begin to speak, "Nadia, it seems that we are in a strange situation." I said with a serious tone.

"What situation are you speaking about, my Lord?" she wonders with a serious expression.

"It seems that we were teleported to another world." I announced, crossing my arms.

"You think, my lord? I don't think there is a difference.", Nadia confused at the statement of her creator to which I gave her a glare and made her stand firm, bowing with fear, "M-My apologize. I-I'm not saying that you are wrong."

"It's alright." I raise my hand to calm her, and began to speak, placing my hand on my chin, "It just an hunch, but we aren't even near of Nazarick."

If Lord Identity says so, maybe I should use my nose to smell and find even the slightest scent of Nazarick, Nadia thought, looking determined, started sniffing.

W-WAIT, WHAT I AM GOING TO DO NOW?! IN THIS KIND OF SITUATION I CAN'T GO BATK TO MY WORLD! Keep calm Miura, first you have to find other players or at least your guild members. Second, I have to know more about this new world we are right now. I first panicked, and then composed myself to think straight.

Few minutes passed, the two of us decided at least look for someone to know better about this world. Until, Nadia sniffed blood not far from us and went straight to the scent. When we arrived, we saw a group of bandits fighting another group of soldier or knights.

"Milord, it seems that those bandits are raiding those people." Nadia pointed her finger at them. "What should we do? Leave them be?"

"In our case, we shouldn't help inferior people. But in this strange situation, we should at least know more about this world. So Nadia, you bring their attention as I prepare myself." Nadia giving a nod, charges first to the bandits.

One of the bandits notices Nadia approaching them.

"Hey, there is a chick coming at us."

"She doesn't look like a normal one. But... boys, capture her." Another one but much bigger spoke with a smirk, drooling on his imagination once they get her.

Three of the bandits went straight to Nadia with their swords and as they swung their swords to scare her, Nadia suddenly disappeared.

"H-Hey! Where did she go?" The first bandit was surprised at the sudden disappearance of the chick.

"She couldn't have gone far." The second one said, looking around.

Before they could even notice the third one said with a shocking tone.

"H-HEY THERE SHE I-!" but it was too late, the two bandits suddenly their head fell down as the third one was left speechless.

"WHAT THE?!" The bandits boss was shocked then notices someone else up the hill. "HEY THERE IS ANOTHER ONE! ARCHERS! KILL HIM!" he ordered pointing at me, as the arches were preparing.

Shit! They have found me!, I panicked before preparing my spells as I put a handmade mask on my face, I hope this works.

As the archers shot their arrows, I raised both hand and began the chant.

"[Wind Shield]!" The arrows were flown away as the boss cursed under his breath.

"DAMN IT! IGNORE THE NOBLES! KILL THEM!" He roared as the others charged at us.

"Who are them?" One of the guards wondered as the bandits ignored them to charge at those mysterious heroes. Inside the carriage, a young lady glances from the window at those two people.

I see 15 bandits including the boss. At least those guards can take a breather, I glanced at the bandits except the boss charging toward us. As I finish thinking, Nadia lands next to me.

"Lord Identity, what should I do?" She wondered.

"Given that those insects tried to underestimate us, we should give them a lesson." I said glaring at them.

"Should I kill them?" She asked preparing her weapons.

"Not yet. For now, I should make them feel our differences. Get behind me." I ordered, as she did as I said. I started preparing the next spell as the bandits were closer with their swords, using [Incinerate] the flames were being blown from my hands, the bandits engulfed in fire started screaming in pain as the others who weren't in the spell range saw the horror of a powerful magic caster.

"Wh-What a monster..." One of the bandits mumbled.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU INGRATS DOING STANDING IDLE?! JUST KILL THEM!" The boss unfazed by the power, yet, ordered the other bandits that were near.

The bandits having no choice to disobey his order, charged against their will to kill me and Nadia. But that backfired them, when as soon as they were closer to me, Nadia in a swift heads started rolling on the floor.

To tell the truth, I couldn't believe that by seeing this killing, I could maintain a straight expression without making a disgusting expression or grumble to see blood, gore and death. Maybe being a heteromorphic race it lower the disgust that every demonic race sees it. Even though, I am a Doppelganger, it feels less disgust but more amusement right now.

"Wh-Who are you?!" Finally the bandit boss expression in despair as his men were totally annihilated by two strangers.

"Hmph... There is no need to speak my name those who reeks in garbage." I spat, and as soon as I ended to speak, I snapped my fingers commanding Nadia to eliminate the last pest.

"W-Wai...!" Those were the last words before Nadia thrusted her knives on his chest, ending his life.

"Good work, Nadia." I rejoined with her as the body fell backwards on the floor.

"Your words humble me, Milord." She bows delighted to my words.

"What are those two..." The surviving guards spoke in shock before they cheered for the heroes whom saved their lives.

As the guards cheered, the doors of the carriage opened as a lady got out of it and the guards noticed her and stood firm opening a path to the heroes.

"Strangers, thank you for your assistance. If you weren't here, god knows what would have happened to us." A young lady thanked us while bowing.

"It's nothing much. You people were lucky that we were nearby." I replied, raising a hand. Nadia stood behind me, checking the dead bodies of the bandits.

"I am Kayla Naimbet Dawngor, a royal daughter of the Re-Estize Kingdom. May I know your names?" The young lady with brown long hair, green round eyes, wearing a light purple dress with different accessories and a golden necklace, introduced herself and asked.

"I am..." I paused thinking that my name "Dark Identity" wouldn't be agreeable and it would be suspicious. I thought hard, thinking for a name that would be perfect for a new beginning and said. "I am Iden Mak."

*(Author: I had to use something referring my character with Identity and Mask.)*

"Nadia. Nadia Wildfang." Nadia introduced with a poker face.

Pheew, good thinking to make her different from the other Pleiades. I made her friendlier to the human races since we were heteromorphic race and would be never look down on an opponent. I internally sighed in relief.

"Let me ask you Sir Mak but what were you doing here?" She wonders.

"We were on a journey with our companions, but it seems that we got lost after an encounter with a monster. So for now, we're looking for a place to live." I replied.

"Maybe I could help you." Kayla commented, leaving me confused for what she just said. "My escort were wounded in the battle and since to reach to my destination last 1 or 2 days to get there, maybe you two could help us arrive safely."

"Hmm..." I looked at the wounded soldiers, given the idea that most of them have bruises and cuts, others weren't much luckier than the first ones, "Maybe I could help the guards with their wounds."

To which Kayla wasn't sure for I just said, I walked toward the wounded soldiers and placed my hands on them and casted [Close Wound]. The wounds that the soldiers had received, were being closed and healed. It left the young lady in awe for my healing powers.

"A-Are you a Magic Caster?" She realized.

"Yes, I Am." I replied confidently.

As soon as I finished healing the wounded, every soldiers stood up vigorously thinking that their wounds were just a dream.

"LISTEN UP! THANKS TO THESE TWO HEROES, WE CAN RETURN HOME SAFELY! SO LET US DEPART!" She commanded, entering inside the carriage and everyone started to move.

Given the time we departed, it lasted a day to finally arrive to our destination. The E-Rantel of the Re-Estize Kingdom.

Wow, this is for what I imagined for a fantasy world, I thought-gazed at the unimaginable kingdom of a fantasy world.

"Thank you for helping me to reach here, Sir Mak. Here is your reward to help us." She gave me a little bag, inside full coins for gold coins.

"Where can I look for a place to sleep? It's my first time here so I need some kind of guide." I asked.

"You can go straight to this path and the next right you can see an Adventurer Guild and much toward you can see an Inn." One of the guards guided, pointing to a straight street road.

"I see, thank you." Just I was going toward the Inn, she called for me and said, "Before I forget, could you kindly not tell much about me and Nadia? We wouldn't like to meddle much with the nobles of the kingdom."

"But shouldn't at least have recognition with the nobles?" She wonders, and then pouts in defeat to say. "But fine, if our heroes wants to, I can make a subtle way to speak about." with that most of the soldier including her left us to our separate ways.

As we walked to the Inn, Nadia asked.

"Lord Identity, why would you beg to these humans?"

"Because if she were to speak highly of us, we could be recruited to be part of something unavoidable." I replied in monotone. I realized in my years reading novels and mangas about these features you tend to involve something nasty.

"I see. We could be known as expendables so you tried to make us less notorious by refraining her to speak highly of us. Nothing less for Milord." She spoke highly as her eyes sparkled vigorously.

"For now, let us rest for the day at the Inn." I said as we arrived in front of the Inn.

-Inside the Inn-

"Welcome." The Inn keeper welcomed us while cleaning a mug. "What do you need?"

"We need one room with individuals' beds for a day." I said, putting a gold coin in front of him.

"Right, sir." He grabbed the key of the room in one of the key shelves and gave it to me, including the changes. "Enjoy you stay."

We walked toward the room, ignoring the gazes of some unwanted people. As soon as we entered inside our room, we sat down and Nadia was the first one to speak.

"Milord, what are we going to do now?" She wonders as she crossed her arms under her chest.

"For now, we rest and the next day we will go straight to the Adventurer Guild to work. Since this much won't hold for a long time and it could also be snatched." I said while holding the money bag.

"If there is an intruder, I'll kill them." She assured with a serious expression.

"Maybe you could maybe knock them out. We don't want to be known as murderers." I replied with a deadpanned expression.

As for the day ended, Nadia was the first one to sleep deeply as I was gazing at the room thinking...

There is going to be a way to return back... Then it suddenly hit me something, the word "go back" was suddenly changed with a doubt.

Do I really want to return to that world? Where every day is the same routine of waking up, studying, working part-time, return home, eat alone and sleep? And repeating all the way until our deaths? Was I even happy back then? I thought profoundly before I fell asleep.

The next day, I decided to cast an illusion on my face that would represent as a human. I put myself as a young middle age man in his Early 20s, tan skin, blue eyes, a scar in my left eye and right lip, a thin beard and a long black hair undercut with a small ponytail on the back head to blend among humans. Nadia could hide well her ears, I don't want to know how but that's how she can.

It wasn't so hard since I, as one of the 41 Supreme Leaders, was put in the role of the students, what that would mean that I learned each abilities of my companions to be powerful, but since I was the lowest and newest supreme lords I had to learn fast to catch up to them. Ever since I started the game, I joined them as the student lord that would learn all my companions' abilities to be one of the best, but being trapped in this world would be a challenge to test my abilities.

"This must be the place." I said while looking at the Adventurer Guild with Nadia, "Nadia if you please, try not to underestimate or insult the humans. We are trying to blend into them and insulting them would be the worst case scenario for us to be their enemies now."

"I understand." Nadia nodded, and followed me from behind.

When we entered, there were some adventurers chatting, resting or doing anything that a guild would do. I noticed some of them looking at us with a mug on their hands or while standing it gave me a creep.

I wondered it would be my new life in this world like this. Maybe I could find my comrades of Narzarick here but I don't know if it would end like this, with a sweat drop on my head.
