Schmidt and CeCe immediately turn back, and there stood Nick. Silent. Expression less. Like someone had just pulled the ground from under his feet!
Nick watches as Schmidt walks up and stands right next to him.
"You okay, Nick?"
"Yes Schmidt! The love of my life got engaged right before my eyes. I could not be more okay!
"I mean, will you be okay?"
"After what i just saw?" Nick nods in disagreement. "I'll never be okay."
"Look Nick, Some breakups are just harder to get over than others. I mean, you got over Caroline, right?"
"Yes, but she was just my girlfriend."
"And Jess was not just your girlfriend? Nick! Were you two secretly engaged or something?"
"No Schmidt! It's not that complicated, GOD! I'm in love with Jess."
"Well, you were in love with Caroline too, remember, you even moved in with her for that..one..day..?"
"Okay, but I don't just love Jess, she owns my heart! She can make me do anything!"
"Nick, you're making this harder than it needs to be. I can't see you this upset. Sure, Jess is great, the best infact. But she's moved on. The owner of your heart, Nick, is Ryan's fiancee now!"
"You know what Schmidt, I change my answer. I will be okay. Today, she's his fiancee, but in exactly one month from now, she'll be my bride!"
"What!?"
Nick starts walking away, lost in his thoughts with a big smile.
"Nick!" Exclaims Schmidt. "Where're you going? This wedding isn't over yet. Nick!!!"
