"But mom, I don't want to quit being a spy! It's my life!"
My mom sighed, and brushed a piece of her shiny black bob behind her ear.
"Bree, neither do I. But your father thinks it's too dangerous, and he forbids it, until you're 18." "Mom!" "Majore Rebecca Muller stop it this instant. Or will I have to take away your grappling hook again?"
I sighed. "Mom, just tell me WHY you let me be a spy all those years?" "Because I was a single mom, and I thought that if you were in the spy business, you'd toughen up." "Which I did." "Yes, and did you know why?.. Because If I died, then hopefully you could move on, and take care of yourself. You'd certainly have enough money!"
I smiled. That was one of the MANY reasons I liked the spy biz.
"Sooo why is it different now that I'm older?" "You're twin brother. He isn't a spy, and he knows he has a sister, but he doesn't know you're a spy. He doesn't even know you're fathers a spy!" "So does he have legal ownership of himself of something?"
I asked because as the director of Control, my dad would have to travel around quite a bit. And that would be hard without my twin getting suspicious… I know I would. "Why doesn't my bro become a spy?" "You're father thought-" "It was dangerous…. Okay. Fine. I'll go on leave ONLY, and I mean ONLY, If I get all the latest gadgets." My mom sighed. "I'll see what I can do." I nodded. "I'll go down to headquarters to see If Larrybee can whip up a disguise…. I want to look more innocent."
