This is a sequel to When Unwelcome Memories Invade, you don't have to read that one to understand this one because it and this one are basically that scene with the Skybound reference in episode 82 but you should definately check that out if you want. This was suggested by a guest in a review on that story so thank you for the suggestion.
And yes I am aware this is like my third Skybound related story. I just love Skybound so much and there is a serious lack of Skybound stories out there. Also fair warning, I have another Skybound story coming xD
I don't own Ninjago
If Nya was being perfectly honest, the whole ordeal with Nadakhan plagued her more than she would've liked to admit.
The first few days were the hardest, for both her and Jay.
Vivid nightmares had visited the two almost every night.
Little things were triggers, like spiders and the "w" word.
The constant questions from the others.
And the encompassing shock of it all.
Truth be told, she still had nightmares from the events that happened — didn't happen — about two years ago, but for the most part, she was able to ignore the random bursts of PTSD and move on.
She knew Jay hadn't been so fortunate.
She didn't miss the horrified look imprinted on his face for several days after time reset.
She didnt miss how when asked about it, he would brush it off and say he was fine.
She didnt miss how he suddenly became overly cheery at little things to hide the fact that he was still terrified.
She didn't miss his horrific nightmares, along with hers.
She didn't miss the nights he cried in her arms at 3 a.m.
She didn't miss the way he was more clingy with her.
She didnt miss how he would avoid the others from time to time.
She didn't miss how even two years later, the mention of a Pirate genie from the Police Commissioner could bring the horrified look back to his face.
"A Pirate Genie?"
He winced and smiled at her.
She smiled back and gave as much reassurance as possible with a small glance and a smile.
She didnt miss how even now, he still tried to push it away and cover it up.
"Ah, don't be ridiculous! It's the Sons of Garmadon!"
But she coudn't just give herself the credit.
There were plenty, and she means plenty, of times where he helped her through all of this too.
When he held her while she cried in the dead of night.
When he pushed his feelings away just to cheer her up and make her smile. Because just like it's always been with him, when someone else was in need, he was the last person that mattered to himself.
When he grabbed her hand and winked at her when a little trigger popped up instead of wincing too.
When the others asked why they were acting so weird, he would help her quickly dismiss it and avoid their questions.
When he openly accepted the times she needed to nudge him awake and check on him at night and vise versa.
She knew when he hurt.
And he always knew when she did too.
Nadakhan and his actions had broken them both, but they were piecing each other back together, slowly but surely, they were healing.
They were both there for each other.
That was what got them through it.
Because no matter what they had endured in the past, they had each other.
And that was all that mattered.
