He hasn't been in this office for years. It has changed slightly, but some things were still same. The portraits for example. All the portraits he remembered were still on their places, including Dumbledore's who now smiled at him politely. But he was looking at another portrait. The only one he hadn't seen before, despite the fact that it was his idea to place particularly this picture to the headmaster's office in Hogwarts.
"Nice to see you again, Professor Snape," said Harry quietly.
The man on the portrait didn't react. In fact he didn't even move. He looked more like muggle picture. Harry took this opportunity to study his face for a moment. He was surprised by the harshness of man's face, by coldness of his eyes, by his lanky, greasy hair. For the last years Harry was remembering this man as a hero and as a side effect of this, he idealised some memories. This man has never been handsome or kind, but still was a hero.
Harry sighted. "You know, I never thanked you for all the things you have done. I am here to do it now. To thank you and also to apologise for my behaviour. I was behaving like a spoiled brat sometimes. Well you weren't the most polite and kind either, but still I want to apologise. I know it is few years from your death now, but still better now than never, don't you think?"
The man on the portrait wasn't still reacting.
"I am an auror now. And I am married. To Ginny Weasley – Ron's sister, if you remember. We have two children, both are boys. The older one is called James and I bet that you'll see enough of him in this office. He will be a new Marauder, I am sure of it."
But Snape did't take the chance to make some sarcastic comment, even though Harry gave him this much opportunities. But Harry was still a Griffindor and he wasn' used to giving up easily.
"Ron married Hermione, they are also very happy. And Teddy Lupin – he is a great boy! Do you remember Professor Lupin and Tonks? I bet they would both be very proud of their son."
Still no avail.
"You know, Professor... When you are picture, you can't suffocate when you are not breathing? I would not be so sure, you are turning to a strange colour."
Finally Harry gave up. "All right, I see you are not in mood to speak to me, so I will go. If you change your mind, just tell Professor Dumbledore and his painting on Ministry can give me your message." Harry turned his back to the picture, but then he stopped. "One last thing I wanted to tell you. Our last son – he is still just a little baby – but it is clear now he will have my eyes. You know how we named him? Albus after Proffesor Dumbledore and Severus after you. I am really grateful for everything you have done for me. Goodbye, Professor."
Harry was just about to leave the room, when the well known voice stopped him.
"I can't believe I'm saying this, especially about your son, but poor boy. I hope he will kill you for those names you gave him, Potter."
Harry smiled widely. "Thank you, sir," and he left the room.
