Maybe he's selfish to grieve for her when she's alive and well, and he's only ever wanted her to be happy. But the lips touching hers should be his, and he can't remember where he went so wrong.

He wants to put his hand through the window, so he can break into their moment. So he doesn't have to look at them anymore.

He wants to sink down on the sidewalk, cover his eyes, and hide from the looks she gives him.

He wants to step out into the road and let the passing taxi run him over.

Instead, he goes home and stares at the clock on the wall, because Sweets told him he just needs time.

He finds himself hoping the ticking will simply stop.
