Title: Breaking and Entering
Pairing: Bert/Ernie
Disclaimer: Sesame Street and everything affiliated with it do not belong to me. They belong to someone else. I am making no money from this. It is purely for entertainment.
Summary: Bert returns home after being gone.
Warnings: There are two male Muppets involved romantically in each other. If you can't deal, then leave.
Notes: The title comes from the abbreviation of the pairing, B/E. Also, think about it. These two have been sharing an apartment for how many years now? To me, they're like the original gay couple. ** for emphasis.
Feedback: Yes, please.

Bert walked through the door of his small apartment and was immediately tackled by Ernie. They fell to the ground. Ernie landed on top and pinned Bert down with kisses. In between kisses, Ernie managed to talk.
"Oh, Bert, old buddy, old pal. I've missed you so much while you were gone."
"Ernie, I wasn't--"
"Please, please, please don't leave me like that again."
"It wasn't that--"
"I've got a special surprise to welcome you back too."
Just then, Bert gained some leverage and flipped Ernie and himself over so that he was now on top. Bert stood and helped his shorter companion up. Ernie, babbling the entire time about his surprise for Bert, led him to the kitchen.
Bert stepped into where the kitchen used to be. It was still the kitchen, but it had been transformed. Every surface had been cleaned and polished. The checkered tablecloth was replaced by white linen. The nice dishes and silverware sat at two places. A few well-placed candles gave the room a close atmosphere. Ernie waited in patient silence for the yellow-skinned man to say something.
Bert spoke with awe. "You did all this for me?"
"Uh-huh, " replied Ernie.
"But it's so...so...elegant."
"I *told* you that I missed you, buddy."
Ernie led Bert to the table, and, like a gentleman, pulled out Bert's chair for him. Once the other was seated, Ernie retrieved the food from the counter. Bert watched with Ernie's movements with interest till his eyes came to rest on Rubber Duckie. "Ernie?" he questioned.
"Yes?" The reply floated back from over Ernie's shoulder.
"What's Rubber Duckie doing on the table?"
"Well, he missed you too. So I'm letting him help tonight during dinner."
"How's he helping?"
"Gee, Bert, don't you know? He's weighing the tablecloth down."
The food laid down onto the table looked delicious. There was creamy pasta, a fresh salad, and toasted garlic bread. Each enjoyed the meal very much. Rubber Duckie even was allowed to have a piece of the garlic toast. Bert chatted about what had happened at his paperclip convention while Ernie talked about how Sesame Street had fared while Bert was gone.
Afterwards, the pair cleaned up supper. "That was a wonderful meal. Thank you. But I don't have a gift for you," Bert lamented.
"Oh yes you do."
"I do? What?"
"If you follow me to the bedroom, I'm sure you'll be able to think of what."
"Oh, that. Well, if you're sure you want it Ernie."
"'Course I do. I wouldn't have suggested it otherwise."
"Alright then, come over and receive your gift."
