Note: This is meant to be short - it's Jaken's thoughts, they can't be terribly complex or it'd be very OOC ;)

Toto-sai's giant hammer hit the ground with a resounding bang and the earth split, smoke rising and covering the air as lava ran between the chunks of rock. The sword smith leapt back with a bounce in his step and then even our demon eyes could see no more. I stumbled, looking for my lord, but I could not see him! A spout of lava roared into my face, and with a last, brave "Gack!" I succumbed to the blackness that overwhelmed me.

Fortunately for myself and Sesshoumaru-sama, my illness did not last long. I, the great Jaken, was soon running back out of the fiery depths with the staff of heads held tightly in my grasp. Sesshoumaru-sama was standing at the edge of the lava field, staring back into the smoke. Panting and leaning on the staff, I took my proper place beside my lord and master.

"They got away." I nodded sadly to my self. Such a crime, that the great and mighty Sesshoumaru could be chased away by an old man's hammer. It was awful! I stewed over this for a little while, boiling with righteous indignation, before remembering one other thing the geezer had done. He had pointed out Sesshoumaru-sama's sword.

I opened my mouth to ask but he had already turned away, stalking out of the small lava field and staring ahead, ignoring me as usual. But that's all right, as long as I am here to serve my lord. We make our way to a meadow and the master orders me to call Ah-Un. I call for the beast as the master sits.

The sword once again draws my eyes; I wonder what wondrous, strange power it possesses, to have been crafted from the same fang as the mighty Tetseiga. "I never realized... That the sword at your side is an heirloom from your lord father. Just what sort of demon blade is it?"

I really, really should have kept my mouth shut.
