Unchained Melody

Regina Potter was walking through number twelve Grimwald Place trying to find Sirius when she heard music playing. Gina followed the sound up the stairs and to the third room on the right. Gina looked in at the open door and saw Remus lying on his back on his bed starring up at the ceiling with a far off look. Gina noticed that the song had ended and had begun to play again. The song was called Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers. It was Gina's most favorite song in the world.

"Remus?" Gina called gently.

"Hmm?"

"You seem to be deep in thought."

"I was thinking about that time in fifth year when we had that party."

*Flashback*

Remus was setting in one of the plush armchairs in front of the fire trying to work on his potions homework but he couldn't concentrate. The appearance of Sirius Black only added to the problem because he had accidently let it slip one morning after the full moon that he had a crush on James' twin sister Regina. Since then Sirius had made it his life goal to get Remus and Gina together.

"Why don't you go ask Gina to dance Remus?"

"She wouldn't want to dance with me."

"Then why does she keep looking at you?"

"What?"

At that Remus looked over at where Gina was setting and sure enough she was looking right at him.

"Come on Remus just one dance!"

"Fine but just one."

Remus quickly put away his school stuff and proceeded to walk over to where Gina and Lily Evans were sitting.

"Umm, Gina?"

"Yes Remus?"

"I… I was wondering um… if you would um… if you would like to dance with me"

"I would love to."

Remus took her by the hand and led her over to where the other people were dancing. Just then a muggle song started playing. Remus was able to recognize it because he was a half-blood. It was Unchained Melody by an American muggle group called the Righteous Brothers. Remus' body stiffened slightly as Gina Rested her head on his shoulder but he quickly relaxed and held her body closer to his. As the song was drawing to a close Remus gently lifted Gina's head so that she was looking up at him and he bent down and kissed her.

*End Flashback*

Gina went and sat on the edge of Remus' bed and Remus rolled over and set up so that they were setting next to each other.

"You know that was my first kiss."

"Mine to."

"You know how I told you that I really liked you."

"Yea."

"I still do."

Remus leaned over and kissed Gina. It was just like the first. It was so soft.

"Gina?"

"Yes Remus?"

"What ever happened to us?"

"There never was an 'us.' We never talked about what happened and I always assumed that you regretted it."

"I never mentioned it because I assumed that you regretted it."

"I guess it's true what everybody says about assuming things."

"Gina…,"

"Yes, Remus"

"I was wondering if you would like to dance with me?"

"I would love to."

And so they danced, never seeing the head that poked around the corner, never knowing that they were being watched. Then the head, which belonged to Sirius, disappeared and he strolled down the stairs chuckling to himself.
