I don't own Glee.
That number with Quinn was just too accurate for what Brittany was feeling last episode, I don't buy that they were just able to do it without any feelings coming out. Also, this whole breaking up thing is just stupid (as is the apparently coming Bram. Sad.) so here's what I think should have happened after it.
The last strains of "Come See About Me" faded and Santana glanced a look over at Brittany. She'd gone into performer mode during the song, trying not to think too hard about the lyrics, but looking at her ex-girlfriend's face now it seemed Brittany hadn't done the same. Suddenly the taller blonde burst into tears and turned to flee the room. The younger Glee girls stared after her. Quinn glared at Santana. She couldn't help but follow.
She found Brittany in the nearest girls' bathroom, leaning against the wall, not even trying to stop the tears.
"Britt…" she started, not sure what to say.
Brittany sniffed, wiping her eyes angrily. "What? Stop being sad? Stop crying because I FINALLY got you to be mine, after almost three years of wanting you, and I didn't even get you for a whole year before you go and break up with me for like no good reason at all?"
"But you were so sad, with me being in college."
"I'm sadder now!" she exploded.
"I didn't want one of us to cheat."
"You didn't want to cheat, you mean. I don't want to date anyone else. So it must be you. How many girls have you slept with, Santana? How many more do you have to sleep with before you remember that it's us, it's always going to be us. I'll always love you most, and you know you will always love me most, even if you have to sleep with all the lesbians in Kentucky to figure it out."
Santana didn't answer her.
"How MANY, Santana?"
"One, okay? Just one." She looked down.
"Are you dating her?" Brittany's tears had started drying, but they glistened freshly in her eyes as she asked the question.
Santana shook her head. "It was just once. After a party. It meant nothing." She admitted.
"Was it worth it? Was it as good as we are?" Brittany asked, advancing on Santana. Santana backed up until she hit the wall, but Brittany kept moving until her body was pressed up against the shorter girl's.
"Did she know all of the best places to touch you?" Brittany continued, pressing a kiss just below Santana's ear.
"No! Okay, it wasn't. It was fine; not like sex with boys or anything, but it wasn't like with you."
Brittany pulled back. "Is that what this was about? You had to sleep with another girl to see if you were really really gay?"
Santana looked down. "No, of course not."
Brittany arched her eyebrows.
"Okay maybe a little. But it doesn't change the fact that I'm in college and you're here, hours away, and one of us is bound to like someone else, and I don't want to end up like the hobbit and the whale, or like the gay boys, or half the girls on my squad who are cheating on their high school boyfriends."
"Those people are not us." Brittany said simply. "Anyway, Blaine is so totally going to get Kurt back, and since when do you care about Rachel and Finn?"
She had a point. Neither of them had ever figured out what Rachel and Finn were doing together.
"Britt, it's not that I don't want to."
"Then stop being stupid." Santana's eyebrows quirked at her word choice. "Whatever, I can say it. And you are. Being stupid. I still don't really know why but I am tired of waiting for you to figure it out."
She dipped her head and brought their lips crashing together.
When she finally pulled away, Santana left her eyes closed and her head resting against the wall.
"Okay." She said quietly. Brittany grinned.
"Okay, you'll be my girlfriend again?"
Santana opened her eyes and smiled at her. "If you'll be mine."
