Disclaimer: I do not own Sirius Black, Azkaban Prison, or anything else
that readers recognize from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I do,
however, own Anaka Thompson and the plot of this story. So there.
Steal Away
Sirius Black jerked awake from yet another night of nightmare-baring sleep. Hands shaking, Sirius used the sleeve of his filthy Azkaban Prison uniform to wipe the cold sweat from his head. He looked around the barren prison cell he was now forced to call home. Just outside, Sirius could see no less then a dozen dementors standing in a huddled mass. Luckily, Sirius had a strategy for beating the dementor's horrible effects. He stood up. A moment later, a large black dog stood where the man did only a moment before. 'There we go,' Sirius thought, 'maybe now I can get a decent night of sleep.'
Sirius woke up the next day to voices. "Where do you want her?" one was asking. 'Must be a new prisoner' thought Sirius. He hurriedly transformed back into a human as he heard voices coming nearer. "Here" a second voice said. There was a jingling of keys, and Sirius could see a small group coming nearer.
The group consisted of about ten beings. Three were the human Azkaban guards, one was a man in long flowing black robes, a judge. There were about five dementors, two of whom were holding a girl.
The girl looked no older than sixteen, seventeen at the most. Sirius went up to the front bars of his cell to get a better look. She was short and pale with short brown hair. She had a mischievous grin on her face, and it seemed that the dementors didn't bother her at all. As the group passed Sirius' cell, the girl looked over at him and winked. Sirius raised an eyebrow. There was a sound of a key in a lock, and the girl was thrown roughly into the cell neighboring Sirius. The door was locked and the group, with the exception of the dementors, walked back towards Sirius' cell. Sirius, who was temporarily dumbfounded by the young girl next to him, was brought back to earth by the banging of wood on metal. The guard was banging his stick on the metal bars of the cell. "Mind your own business, Black.
Sirius looked back over at the girl, who had walked over to her bed, with a confused expression on his face. Why was the girl in a maximum-security cell? The girl was not lying on her bed, sleeping. Sighing, Sirius transformed back into a dog, in for another night of nightmares.
