Little Thoughts
The first time he saw her, he couldn't believe she was an enemy.
It was simply preposterous, fighting with a girl like her. But she was an enemy and therefore must be destroyed. It was their goal as members of the Apostle of the Stars. It was simply natural to help Creed achieve his goal. After all, it was all he could do to repay the man for the consideration, not to mention the power he had now. Yes, he was bound to destroy anything that even remotely threatens the peace he was hoping to bring about in this world.
"What are you thinking about?"
Leon blinked, snapping out of his momentary daydream. "Huh?"
"I asked what were you thinking about?"
"Oh, it's nothing." He answered.
Beside him sat an almost impassive Eve. Her brows crinkled in slight distress but immediately smoothed when Leon looked at her again. "Leon…"
Leon smiled, offering a small nod to appease the girl. "Really, it's nothing."
"Are you—"
"Eve." Leon turned to the girl beside him. Her hair was blowing with the wind and he watched as she gathered it with one hand and then looked at him. "Don't worry." He soothed.
Eve contemplated the words for a moment before she hummed in agreement. He grinned at her display of emotions. Or the usual lack thereof. It was reassuring, as weird as that sounded. That means she was still the same despite the things that had happened. Despite the hell she had been put through, her light hasn't diminished one bit.
In fact, she was able to save him. He chuckled at that thought. How weird was it that she was the one to save him and not the other way around?
"What's so funny, Leon?" Eve asked, her brows furrowing in question.
He shook his head, the smile remaining in his lips. He then concluded he liked the sound of his name on her lips. It was a good thing that she seemed to like saying his name too. Her voice soft and almost wary. Like confidence wasn't usually with her and she was a timid little girl. He knew that wasn't the case.
Because he knew she was strong and that she would fight for those she loved and for what she thought was right. "I'm just thinking about some things." He answered, turning slightly towards the clouds. It really was such a nice day.
She cocked her head to the right. "Things?"
Leon nodded. "Stuff."
Silence ensued for a few minutes while the two busied themselves with their own thoughts. The wind swayed calmly in concurrence with Leon's thoughts. The cold breeze was nice with the summer heat. It was also normal and for a moment he forgot that the world existed. There were no problems and it was just peaceful.
"Eve?" he murmured quietly as he turned to face the girl once again.
"Hmm?"
"Thank you."
Hearing those two words, Eve turned only to be surprised at a pair of lips upon her own. It was a simple peck and Leon grinned at her. She blinked once then twice before it finally registered that Leon has kissed her. Together with the realization came the blush that covered her face. She turned away.
Leon thought it was cute.
He stood and got his board, stepping on it and offering his hand to the girl. He chuckled. "Let's go back before your Dad and the Black Cat murders me for taking you." and after a moment, he added "again."
Eve didn't say anything but as she finally raised her head to look at him and finally reached for his hand, he knew. Everything was going to be okay. Despite the hardships he knew would come along their way, everything was going to be alright.
Because she was there and she was never going to let go.
Fin.
