". . . and I'm afraid it might affect how you all think about me. Here it goes:"
"Guys," Pidge said nervously, "I can't 'man up'." she looked around nervously and took a deep breath.
"I'm a girl."
. . .
"Well, THAT'S a Relief!" There was a small, very awkward period of silence after this loud exclamation from Keith. Everyone stared at him in a questioning manner and a look of panicked realization crossed over his face. "Wait, did I say that out loud?"
OH QUIZNAK I SAID THAT OUT LOUD. AAAAAAAAKKKKKKK! What do I do? what-do-I-do? Keith's thoughts were racing as he tried to come up with a reasonable explanation for his uncharacteristic outburst.
"Why and how is that such a relief to you, Keith? If anything it's a relief to Pidge," said Allura. "By the way, Pidge I have known for some time."
"We were supposed to think you were a boy?" Coran questioned as if it were obvious.
"Owning up to who you are will make you a better paladin," Shiro said reassuringly to Pidge. "But back to the matter at hand. Keith, explain yourself." this last sentence he said it a slightly stern voice that Keith recognized from when he and Shiro were at the Garrison.
"Yeah, Keith fess up. Why does it matter to you if I'm a boy or not, huh?" Pidge said, putting her hands on her hips.
"Uhhh…" Keith looked around nervously as he scrambled for what to say.
He had always had a slight crush on Katie Holt from their days at The Garrison, and he was slightly upset when she was expelled from the space institution. Then, when this "Pidge Gunderson" guy came along he'd had the same feeling. He had been worried since about what that meant about himself, and unfortunately, that came out against the other students. That had been the last straw for the administration when his previous disciplinary problems were taken into account, and so he had been quickly kicked out as well.
"Keith, you like this girl," said one part of his brain. "She's smart, witty, isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in, definitely brave," it paused, and then said with a smirk and knowing voice "and not to mention cute."
So, what do I do!?
"Well, Lance is 'good' with women, what would he do?"
Keith internally scoffed. He would probably waltz up to her, say some cheesy line, and try to kiss her or something. . . .
Her lips do look delicious. . . .
"Okay, Keith, you can do it."
He visibly seemed to steel himself, and then, with his best "Yeah, you-know-I-can-out-fly-you-in-the-flight-simulator" smirk, he walked up to her with a slight swing in his hips and said the following sentence. It wasn't the best option or even a pick-up line, but what did that matter? It was the truth of how he felt, and that's what counts.
"Because it means I can do this. . ."
He slipped his left hand through the loop of her arm to rest on her lower back, while his other hand went up to cradle her face. With a deep look into her eyes, he lifted her up onto her tiptoes and leaned down to steal a kiss.
It was soft, and gentle, even with his inexperience, but it gave a hint to hidden desire just before he pulled away.
More to come. I thought of continuing and making it a one-shot, but I decided to cut it off here and leave you all hanging instead. :) Muahaha!
