Hey. this is my first fanfiction. I honestly don't know what compelled me to write my first story to be so long. Anyway I am not British even if this is staged in England so please excuse me if I don't use words like mum and stuff(I just needed a different setting than America). Anyway I thought of this idea before I read Maximum Ride but couldn't explain why they were mutated so after reading it I decided to make some tweeks and turn it into fanfiction.

Prologue

"These mutants were made and trained to be killing machines by the School. After we exploited them, their creations still remain a threat to us and we must destroy them as soon as possible. This is your job," a female's voice came over the computer speakers.

The general had had a long day to begin with and this woman's cold, clipped voice made him silently question her exact motives. He shook his head trying to clear his thoughts as reached for the printed out versions of the profiles for the mutants. When he opened the folder to look at them his eyes widened.

"Are you sure these are correct? These are just children. They can't be older than sixteen," the general questioned thoroughly conflicted. The Minister's orders were to contact the source of information and kill the targets provided but having a teenage daughter himself he began to doubt this mission seeing the profiles.

"They may look like us but they have no hearts. No more than a program. You aren't beginning to doubt us now are you?" the woman's voice, if possible, became even colder.

"No ma'm," he replied shaking himself of his doubts.

"Get started tracking them first thing tomorrow. I expect to hear from you soon," she finished speaking and ended the conference without waiting for him to reply.

"Yes ma'm," he said anyway as he turned off the computer monitor. He looked back at the profiles, rubbing the bridge of his nose.

He stood up to leave the office leaving the folder open. On his office desk was the old profile picture taken ten years ago of six-year-old Evelyn Johnson, Subject 103, eyes wide and determined not to die.
