"Eternity"
She stared blankly into his eyes. She felt unaware of any feeling at all; already losing count of the times she'd pressed her ear against his chest, longing for a heartbeat. The knife which had pierced his heart had been thrown to the floor, blood shining on its rusty edges. His body just lay there, sleeping its endless sleep.
Jealousy, she thought, had taken his breath away forever. Or maybe arrogance had. Or maybe the fact that no one but her could accept that he was a better person. She hadn't cared; she loved him just the way he was. Flawless. Perfect. Now, he just lay there with nothing to do but leave this world forever.
And as she stared at his expressionless face, she caught a glimpse of the very last twinkle in his eyes. In that precise moment, she knew what she must do. With the last amount of strength she possessed, she stood up. After taking one last look at his dead body, she ran up the stairs, tears and sweat wetting her cheeks, until she reached the roof. That door had always been carelessly open. She couldn't wait to see him again. If she couldn't bring him back, she would go to him. "Until death do us part" couldn't, wouldn't stop her. She wanted to spend all of eternity with him. She walked up to the edge, feeling the ground under her bare feet. Adrenaline flooded her veins as she looked down. And as her feet parted with the cold, hard floor, as her body fell helplessly into the precipice, a soft smile spread across her face.
