*Sasuke's POV*
I was sitting on the edge of the pier looking into the lake lost in my thoughts. Barely noticing the girls in the bushes watching me closely and giggling. I was so lost in thought that I didn't even realize that a girl came out of the water and kissed me until we were kissing. I stared at her as she fell back into the water.
"Sorry," she swam to the side of the pier to get out of the lake "I didn't expect anyone to be sitting there when I jumped out of the water."
I couldn't say anything, too stunned by the unexpected kiss and watched her drain water from her long white hair. She smiled at me then laid down beside me and closed her slate coloured eyes allowing the sun to dry her off.
"My name's Tama," she introduced herself "Who are you?"
"Sasuke Uchiha," I mumbled trying to remember if I've seen this girl before.
She opened her eyes and looked intensely into mine "If you don't mind me asking, why are you so sad?"
"You don't know?" I answered turning my face away shocked that anyone in Konoha didn't know my story "My brother killed my whole clan leaving me all alone."
"I know how you feel," she sat up answering sadly and hugged her knees "My older sister killed my entire family. I was at a friends' house for a sleepover so I didn't see it happen but when I got home the next day the house was empty. I found a note in the kitchen from my sister telling me I was lucky to be out or else she would have killed me too."
"My brother waited until I arrived home from school to kill my parents in front of me."
"Harsh," Tama looked at me tilting her head "I never realized that there was another orphaned child in Konoha like me. It kind of feels nice to know someone who knows how I feel."
"Lonely?" I inquired.
She nodded and smiled at me "I have a feeling we're going to be best friends, bonded together by our pain."
*7 YEARS LATER*
'Where is Tama?' I asked myself staring at the classroom door, 'It's not like her to be late.'
Today was the day that the official teams were made after graduating school. Iruka had already started putting the students into teams of three. He had already gone through teams 1-6 and was about to announce team 7 when Tama finally walked in.
"Sorry I'm late," she waved to the teacher walking to the back of the class.
"Do you have an explanation to your tardiness Tama?" Iruka asked.
"That's classified information," she answered with a grin.
I knew something was wrong, anytime she claimed 'classified' she was deeply troubled. Iruka was startled by the answer, she had never used it in front of him before. He shook it off and continue calling out the teams.
"Team 7 will have Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno, Sasuke Uchiha and Tama," he announced.
Naruto started to complain that he had to be on the same team as me. I tried my best to ignore him but his voice was so loud. Eventually Iruka got him to shut up and then continued naming the remaining teams. After lunch all teams were to meet with their captains so when the lunch bell rung I rushed out to find Tama who had run out at the first toll.
"Tama, what's wrong?" I finally found her in the nearby park.
"Nothing," she answered wiping her eyes, I gave her a leveled look and she sighed smiling "I didn't have a good enough excuse for being late so I kind of lied and said it was classified. Nothing is wrong Sasuke, if there was you would already know."
That's when I noticed the rosary around her neck "When did you get this?"
She touched the cross tentatively "It was sitting on my doorstep this morning."
She was hiding something and I knew that information she hid behind 'classified' and I was determined to figure it out, she can't hide everything from me. We spent the lunch hour just sitting in the park before going back to the classroom to meet our team captain. He arrived extraordinarily late and decided to take us outside so we could get to know each other better.
"My name's Kakashi Hatake and that's all you need to know," he announced.
Sakura, Naruto and I were next; when Tama's turn came she said the exact same thing as Kakashi, just different name. The next day Kakashi gave us a special test to see if we were worthy of becoming ninja, it felt like we only passed because of Tama.
