Aragorn's eyes were blank as he watched the white boat float down the river, bearing the body of Boromir, a Lord of Gondor now gone from the world. The man's dying words still rang in Aragorn's ears; the world of Men will fall, and shadow will spread from Mordor, to overtake the last of the goodness that lay in Middle Earth. Darkness would spread, and if Frodo should fail, Aragorn knew all would be lost, and no amount of Men, or Elves, Dwarves, or Free Folk could stop the hordes of Sauron.
"Aragorn."
The quiet voice of his dear friend drew Aragorn's attention away from the river, and he looked up to the deep eyes of the Woodland Elf. He felt the gentle weight of Legolas's hand on his shoulder, the comfort of the Elf's warmth, and Aragorn merely nodded.
"We go on," he said quietly, turning back to meet Gimli's dark eyes. "Together."
"Aye," was the soft agreement from the otherwise boisterous Dwarf.
And with a confident smile, Aragorn turned to follow the trail of the Uruk-hai.
A/N: So, I've been rereading/rewatching the Lord of the Rings series, and dear god, I forgot how much of a fangirl I was. And since I've finally decided to write things for it, there may be more, but I can't guarantee it. . _ . It all depends on my muse, but she's been rather active as of late, so you may see more LotR stuff popping up in this collection. They probably won't be long, and may just be little things like this, but I want to try something ORIGINAL, and not just introspect for certain scenes. At any rate, I adore the series, and as I said, I'm going back through it again, so there may be more from fan-inspiration that pops up.
Reviews or suggestions for something to write are love~
