I Got Nerve: Chapter One
Miley Stewart was sitting in Hannah Montana's dressing room, waiting for her next show to begin. Her best friend, Lilly Truscott, was with her. Night after night, Miley as Hannah would perform song after song. You would think that living the popstar life was completely glamorous, but Miley knew it wasn't as great as it appeared. Papparazzi, a lot of screaming fans... Sometimes she wondered what her life would be like if she weren't Hannah.
"Okay! I know I've said this about a million times, but this is soooooo cooool!" Lilly/Lola squealed. She had known Miley's secret for the longest time, but it never got old.
Miley/Hannah looked at Lilly. She knew she was right, but she no longer felt this excitement. "Yeah, it is," she answered weakly.
The Stage Manager knocked on the door. "Hannah? You're on in two!"
Miley stood up and headed for the door.
"Miles? Are you alright?" Lilly asked her best friend.
"Yeah, I'm fine," she replied.
Lilly didn't believe her, but she could just tell that Miley didn't want to talk about it, and shrugged. "Okay..."
"Remember," Miley started to smile, "what are we NOT going to do while I'm performing?"
Lilly rolled her eyes. Ever since Gwen Stefani/Traci/Evan/Chocolate Fountain thing had happened, Miley had always laid down the rules for her. "I know! Now go! You're going to be late!"
Miley headed out the door and ran to the stage. She tried using all of the energy she had, and started singing.
Hey
Get up
Get loud
Start pumpin up the party now...
The next morning, Miley, Jackson, and their father were eating breakfast together.
"Dad?" Miley asked her father. "Did you ever have the feeling that you no longer had a passion for singing?"
Robby Ray knew where this was going.
"Yeppers. A few years after I became big, I realized I no longer loved to sing. But you know what?"
Miley didn't know. "What?"
"I started thinking, and I realized something. There are so many people who really want what I had. When you're given the chance to do something, you take it. Now, I look back and think that why would I ever want to give up singing? It's one of the things I love the most, and who would I be without it?" Robby Ray finished.
Miley understood what he was saying. Even though at this point she felt like she no longer wanted to be Hannah Montana, she realized that she had been lucky enough for the opportunity. But then again, she just wanted a normal life.
She stood up. "Dad, I've been thinking," she started. "Umm...this is kind of hard to say, but, umm... I don't want to be Hannah anymore."
