Ok so my first X-Men fanfic. My first one shot as well! Anyways, I do not own the X-men or any of the characters mentioned.

"So Kathrine, will you join us?" The man in the wheelchair asked. His name, Professor Charles Xavier. He came to ask if I would be willing to join his school, The Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters. In other words, the Institute for mutants. I glanced at my mom, then at my dad, both giving me looks of concern. I looked back at the Professor giving him a small nod. Right now I couldn't trust my voice, I didn't want to leave but I knew this would help me in the long run. No more standing in front of the bathroom mirror crying with my arm disappearing into the glass. The Professor smiled and nodded at the woman next to him. Jean Gray, was her name if I remember correctly.

"Jean, will you help Kathrine get packed? It will be better if we leave as soon as possible." Jean nodded and helped me off the couch.

"Lets go get you packed." She said with a smile. I led her up the stairs careful of each step. I didn't want to fall through the floor like I did only a few nights ago. That night I had 'Phased' through my bed and floor falling into the living room. What I thought would stop didn't, I continued falling into the basement. Once I hit the hard cold cement did I finally stop.

I shuddered, remembering the jarring pain that had rippled through my body, and continued my slow clime up the stairs.

"You won't fall through Kathrine" Jean's voice said behind me. I spun on my heal and stared at Jean.

"Like what are you talking about?"

"I know what you are thinking about. I'm a telepath like Xavier, I won't let you phase through the floor." She replied. I looked at her confused, What could she possibly mean? "Let me show you." She said, reading my mind again. Jean closed her eyes and I suddenly felt myself being lifted off the step. Her eyes flickered open and she smiled at me.

"I'm also telekinetic." She said setting me back down.

"Like that was so cool!" I laughed, trusting Jean completely.

"Well then, lets get you packed." She said, putting a hand on my shoulder. I nodded and opened the door to my bedroom ready to start a new life.
