Vala doesn't know it but ever since she joined the SGC, Daniel has watched her. Not outright of course. He didn't even want to imagine what sort of teasing that would get him.
He's noticed how she has changed. She has grown up, but he wishes it didn't have to happen how it did: having and losing Adria.
She's still essentially the same Vala – she still complains about being bored and loves to shop. She loves to tease him and use all those sexual innuendos. But she rarely puts her hair in pigtails anymore. She does work and helps out a lot more than before.
And while she is more grown up, childlike Vala is still here. He loves to watch her experience something new. The way her face lights up gives him so much enjoyment and he can't help but smile with her.
He has forgotten the exact moment when it all changed for them but he doesn't mind it. He knows one day he asked her on a date. A real, official date; the start of their relationship. A relationship which seemed doomed but worked better than any other relationship ever.
Plus, he gets to watch her more. Watching her sleep is his favorite. She's peaceful and looks as though she regains some of the innocence lost by hosting Qetesh.
But he thinks it may soon be second only to watching Vala with their child – to be born in three months.
