Valentine.
Raven was worried. Here it was again: Valentine's Day. Normally, she just ignored the holiday and all its horrific, fluffy hell; but ever since last year's incident, she could do nothing of the sort.
Really, she should have known better. Garfield is a very affectionate person, but she wasn't expecting to walk into her room and find it filled with candy, flowers, and plush toys.
…
She dropped her book in alarm.
"Surprise!" He shouted with his hands in the air.
"Gar... what have you done?" She asked in astonishment, her eyes wide with horror.
"Oh, come on, Rae! You're my first girlfriend on Valentine's Day; I had to go all out!"
She was speechless.
He was positively beaming with pride and walked up to her with a grin on his face. He leaned down and was about to place a kiss upon her lips, when she turned away. He furrowed his brow in confusion, the grin melting from his features. "Did I do something wrong?" She rubbed her temples, trying to calm herself. "You don't like it, do you?" He asked dejectedly.
"It's… it's just a lot to take in." She stated calmly.
"Ugh, I'm such an idiot!" He said into his hands.
She put a hand on his back in a comforting motion. "Gar, the thought was nice, it's just…"
"You hate it."
She did hate it, but she loved him and didn't like seeing him like this. She tried to warm up to the gifts, but there was just so much pink… They ended up putting it all in Starfire's room and let Robin take the credit.
And now it's a whole year later…
Raven didn't know what to expect as she hesitantly walked into her room. She turned on the light and was pleased to find it empty and sighed in relief.
"You didn't think I was stupid enough to do it twice in a row, did ya?"
She turned around and smiled. "Well…"
"Oh, come on, Rae, you gotta give me some credit."
She walked up to him and put her arms around the back of his neck in an embrace. "I admit I was a little worried."
She leaned in close as his words softened. "But you know, I couldn't just do nothing…" She stopped mid-kiss in confusion as he pulled out a rose from behind his back.
She grasped the flower and took a whiff of its lovely scent as a smile played on her lips.
"You like it?" He asked hesitantly and she looked up at him with approving eyes, before leaning in and kissing him.
He barely pulled away a grin on his lips. "I'm gonna take that as a yes."
