Author's Note: This is just a short poem based around the period of time where Rukia is imprisoned in the Shrine of Penitence (at least, I think that's its name - I've only watched the fansubs ;) ) by Renji. That's the place where she awaits her execution, looking over the tools that will kill her. This name of this poem comes from the image of the lone window in the Shrine - the narrow slit in the stone wall. Rukia's 'narrow sky' is the sky she can see through the window - in other words, very little of it. Anyway, I'd really appreciate some feedback for this, so please leave a review if you have the time. Thank you very much!
Narrow
Your sun sets in my narrow sky,
And this tower, I wait to die,
Overlooking my fate from high above,
And for this sky I lose my love.
Though I was told you were on your way,
I have been waiting for too many a day –
I've given up,
Given in.
Your wind is cold in my narrow breeze,
In this tower I can't wait to leave,
The air I feel upon my skin,
Freezes me from outside in.
The thin robes I wear are not enough,
Against the chill, to keep me standing tough –
I've given up,
Surrendered.
Your moon is thin in my narrow night,
In this tower, I am losing my fight,
The crimson collar around my throat,
A sign of your freedom to which I dote.
It binds me here, in this stone cage,
Where my book of life will end its final page –
I've given up,
Can't stand anymore.
The stars are dim in my narrow sky,
And in this tower, I wait to die,
I watch my hope set with the sun,
Knowing you weren't foolish enough to come.
For you, I'm here 'til life's bell doth toll,
So you can forever see my narrow sky whole.
I've given up,
Only for you.
