I Want To Know Your Name
Summary: Len and Rin's last wishes before passing on to the next world. Set in the 'Prisoner/Paper Plane' story. Drabble/ficlet.
Disclaimer: Vocaloid does not belong to me. If it did, I would have turned myself into one of them just so I could hang out and sing together with Len and Rin and the rest.
A/N: First time writing in the Vocaloid genre. So forgive me if I do something wrong and offend Vocaloid fans. This story is a product of my plot bunny-itis, btw.
Len stood tied to the wooden post, while the soldiers readied their guns for the execution.
He cried into the blindfold, wet spots appearing on the white cloth.
I want to know her name…
The captain of the soldiers lowered his gun and shouted: "Ready… And aim…"
"Hold it!"
"S-Sir!" The captain stuttered. He turned and said: "Hold your fire!"
Len flinched as he felt the bristles on the chin of the prison warden brush against his ear.
"Rin." The man whispered hoarsely.
"What?" Len hissed.
"My daughter… the girl… Her name is Rin."
"Why are you…"
"Soldiers, ready your fire!" The prison warden turned and barked at the soldiers.
The captain snapped to attention and shouted: "Soldiers… Ready… Aim…"
"Thank you." Len whispered, even though the warden was already hurrying away. His blindfold was soaked through with tears.
"FIRE!"
Rin lay on the bed, breathing painfully through her oxygen mask.
I want to know his name…
The doctors worked furiously around her, shouting incomprehensible words, struggling to save her life.
"RIN!" Rin's father – the prison warden – burst into the door.
"What's wrong with her?" he gasped.
The doctors and nurses looked at him sadly and shook their heads. One of the doctors spoke up.
"There's not much we can do for her. Frankly, she seems to have lost the will to live."
Rin stared up blankly at the ceiling. The doctors and nurses left the room quietly.
The father stared down at his daughter. "Was that boy that important to you?"
Beep. Beep. Beep. The machine measuring Rin's heartbeat beeped.
The man seemed to fight with himself for awhile, struggling with the piece of paper in his hand.
Beep… Beep… The beeping grew weaker.
Then the man suddenly placed the paper in Rin's hand, and her eyes widened when she saw what it was.
Paper plane.
She smiled and a tear ran down her cheek when she saw what was written in the plane's folds:
It's nice to meet you! My name is Len.
Thank you. Rin mouthed through the oxygen mask to her father.
As the hand around the paper plane tightened, the heartbeat machine fell silent.
A/N: I remember tearing up on Len's 'Prisoner', literally bursting into tears when Len suddenly sings "I'll always be waiting for you" in the middle of Rin's 'Paper Plane', crying for the rest of the video and then running into the toilet with a swollen and blotchy face and wet cheeks so that my aunt wouldn't see that I had been crying. Afterwards I felt really emo and depressed.
Then I started feeling really emo again while typing this story.
Reviews would be comforting.
