LOVE YOU MORE
An Ouran Host Club Drabble

Written by Miyu, Vampire Princess

AUTHOR'S NOTES: My entry for the "Blood" theme for the LJ Community "ouran_contest". Some proof I spend too much time in a hospital these days. And that my muses need some help. =P Don't think I truly captured what I wanted, but I'm within the (500) word requirement. ^^ Comments are encouraged and welcome.

The first thing he remembered when he awoke was flying. A sensation of floating free. It was a welcome relief to his raging anger.

BEEP! BEEP!

Then he remembered the argument that drove him to madness. He had never been so angry at Hikaru before. Loathing oozed from his pores. And for what? Four words that sent his world into a whirlwind. Only because he didn't want to hear them from him.

'What about her, huh? I gave her up for you!'

'I love her. I do! But....'

BEEP! BEEP!

Seething, he climbed into his new car, a Canary yellow Ferrari, and sped from the garage. There was no reason to his path. No logical explanation. Only open road and speed. He pushed the speedometer wanting to feel relieved. To feel free.

That's when the car got a mind of its own. The back became the front, the front the back. Over and over until he saw the large tree heading towards him.

BEEP! BEEP!

It was the constant noise of a machine that finally made Kaoru Hitachiin open his eyes. Bright white flooded his vision, the world slowly coming into focus. The ceiling came into view first, then the far wall. On his left was a curtain, a patchwork of blue hues mixed with pink and green.

To his right was a bed. On the bed was a person. The perfect self portrait of himself. Immediately, Kaoru panicked.

Why was Hikaru lying in bed? What was that red line attached to his arm? And what was with the awful hospital gown he was wearing?

As if hearing his thoughts, Hikaru Hitachiin turned his head to look at his brother.

"You're awake. Finally...."

Kaoru's throat was surprisingly dry when he asked, "How long...?"

"Two days."

At that, Kaoru assessed himself. He was lying in bed, wearing a gown. Tired and bruised, he, too, had a red line hooked into an I.V. in his arm. His eyes followed the line to a machine. It was the consistent beeping of that tiny box that he had heard. The line went from the box over to his brother. Seconds passed before he realized what vital fluid it was carrying.

"Was I...bleeding?"

Hikaru nodded. "They needed an immediate blood donor for you and here I am."

"The car...." Horrible memories flooded his mind, but none as horrible as their argument. "About before, Hikaru...."

"Shut up, Kaoru. Rest. Sleep."

Hikaru reached a hand out to him. It took some doing, but Kaoru managed to grasp it. He inhaled deeply as his twin squeezed his hand. It was the relief he had been truly wanting.

"But I want you to promise me one thing."

"What?"

'I love her.'

"Leave the hotheadedness to me. Okay?"

'But.... I love you more.'

Kaoru managed a smile.

"Okay."
