Gone Away
"I'm sittin' around with nothin' to do I'm sittin' around just thinkin' of you. My heart is achin' without ya Can't stop thinkin' about ya Don't know what to do I'm lost without you When you're around can't keep my feet on the ground But now that you're gone I've come crashing down Gave me wings to fly now I just wanna cry I can't wait 'till you're back here with me Didn't want you to leave I wore my heart on my sleeve You still left without a word Left me sad and confused with nothin' to do But sit around and wait for you It's drivin' me insane Your name's on the brain Every night and every day I eat and sleep for you The air I breathe is you I even live and die for you Everything I do is you But you're not here Yet your voice is in my ear Tellin' me to carry on Tellin' me to just be strong Then I hear the door unlock As I listen to the clock And tears fall from my eyes To my surprise there you are You pull me into your arms and I melt away Now you're back and I'm okay Cause you're here to stay."
Carra sang the words clear as crystal as she played the new song for him. "At least for a while, right baby," she giggled.
"That song was beautiful baby," Jeff smiled. He took the guitar from her and she lay back across his lap.
"Thank you," she said. She sat back up for a moment and teased Jeff to do the same. "I've got somthin' I need to show ya baby," she said. She pulled off her baseball cap and pulled her hair down out of the bun. Her shoulder length hair now had red, purple, and green streaks within its auburn waves. "You like it?" she smiled bringing his hand up to touch the rainbow waves.
"I love it, Carra," he told her running his fingers through it all. "I have somthin' for you too," He pulled out a long black box from his bag and placed it in her hands. She opened the box and its contents revealed a glistening Hardys pendant. "We've been together six years and you never had one," he said. "It's high time you did." She lifted her hair and he fastened it around her neck. "There's more," he said reaching back into his bag. He handed her a pair of purple and black arm bands. She slipped them on and stared at him, an angry glare in her eyes.
"How long are you here for?" She said. Jeff turned his eyes away from hers. He knew she would be crying soon and he hated to see her cry.
"Three days," He whispered.
"Three days!" She screamed. "My birthday is next week and you can't even be here for that!" She was furious. She stood up to leave the room. As she did the moonlight through the window shone off her wedding band. She looked down at it when the light caught her eye. She watched as the tears ran from her face down off the ring. She fell to her knees, collapsing on the floor.
"Carra," Jeff pleaded as he picked her up off the ground. He sat back down on the couch placing her in his lap. "I know I can't be here but I'll call you, I promise," He said as he wiped the tears from her eyes.
"It's not the same, Jeff," she sniffled.
"I know it's not, but it's the best I can do, Carra," He told her. "I promise first chance I get we'll take a month off and go wherever you want, okay?" She nodded. "Come on, let's get to bed, we've got to make the most of these next three days," Jeff said. She smiled though she knew they would pass far too quickly and he would once again be gone away. – The End -
