Clip My Wings
Prologue
With a deep sigh, Mye collapsed onto the floor. Her forehead was covered in sweat, and the salty droplets were dripping all over her body. Her hands felt sticky and her fingers refused to stop shaking. Even her legs felt weak and were struggling to help push her off the ground. Damn, she felt down-right disgusting.
The horrible scent of mossy walls and sawdust filled her nostrils causing Mye to inwardly flinched. Her feet felt familiar against the straw ground, but were waiting for the icy chill that would welcome them as she stepped on to the tile floor on the other side of her room.
A tingling sensation entered through her toes and crawled up her legs and along the rest of her body the moment her feet met the tile. Mye sighed in delight at the cold fighting against the heat that filled the small room. If only her bed was as cold as the tile was. Maybe she'd just spend the night on the floor if the weather didn't cool down a little bit.
Stripping her sweat-covered clothes off, she replaced them with a light pair of pajamas, leaving her slippers on the side for another day. The warm air hugged her skin, squeezing it to the bone. The heat felt almost suffocating.
"Dinner!" a guard's voice resounded through the wooden building.
Metal clanking open, brought Mye's eyes upon the door, and caused her to shift her weight from one foot to the other. Minutes past and Mye was stuck in her room waiting for a guard to release her. Forever seemed to have gone by before a guard finally came by with a key and unlocked the links around her ankles.
"Hurry up or you'll be stuck in here all night," the man grumbled and smacked Mye in the back, pushing her forward.
Mye nodded and shuffled forward, trying hard not to look back on the cuffs that were bound to lock her back in her room once she returned. Meals had been Mye's favorite time for a while. They were her one chance at movement, at a scarce piece of freedom the guard's rarely gave any of the woman.
Now; however, Mye much rather enjoyed the time she spent alone in her room. There she was free to do whatever she wanted under the watchful eye of one of the guards. Mye could train to her heart's content. She could push herself until she was either brought to the hospital-wing of the building or was forced to stop. There, in the confinement of her own room, was the closest thing to freedom she had felt in years.
It plagued her to think that was the closest thing to freedom she may ever feel again.
A/N:
There it, the prologue to my story! I hope you all enjoyed it, and don't worry, if I do continue the story following chapters will be much longer. Honestly, the chapters will at least be 6 pages in OpenOffice and 3,000 words. I just don't feel satisfied unless the chapter is that long, y'know?
Anyway, I'm just wondering what people think of the story so far. It's not something that I'm planning on keeping as a top priority, but I will update as often as I can. Or whenever I feel like.
Also, this is just like any other arc from the beginning, when the Straw-Hats are getting someone new on ship. So it will be quite OC-centric for a while, but it will follow the story line once this arc is over. Just imagine it's just another part of the manga/anime. That's pretty much what I"m trying to aim for. By the way, this is set after the Alabasta Arc and before the whole Galley-La/Enies Lobby Arc or whatever it's called. It's before they meet Franky and after Robin joins their crew.
That's about it!
