Wolf and Denial
My second fanfiction, review please!
I do not own Spice and Wolf, if I did, the third season would actually be up!
"Another day." I thought. I hate waking up in the early morning. In the wild, I would sleep until I felt I wanted to wake up. After all this time, though, I am still not accustomed to getting out of bed on demand.
I heard a door creak open and saw a person emerge from the bathroom, it was Lawrence my companion in during journey to Yoitsu, and a long journey it has been.
"Good morning, Holo." he said, fully awake. Still, I do not understand how he can stay alert this early.
"Good morning, Lawrence, and what are we doing today?", I always hoped he would say we would be looking for clues to Yoitsu. Sometimes my wished would be granted, others,
"We are going to eat breakfast and then go to the next town.", I was disappointed, and Lawrence noticed, "You can chose anything you want for breakfast.", he made a big mistake.
I knew this would be my last good meal until we got to the next town. On the road, we would eat ta bland, dark bread, or gruel made from it.
I chowed down on my 'breakfast', it was more like a feast. The amount of food I ate was probably able to feed a family for a week... or me for 30 minutes. Even in my human form, I still had a large appetite. I don't care if it gives me away, I can not simply go starving! I was focused on my food to notice Lawrence staring at me.
"Why do you eat this much, Holo?"
"I am hungry, would I eat if I was not?", I simply replied.
"Actually, you would.", I flicked him in the head.
We departed to the next town. The trip between towns is a boring one. I just sit down with my thoughts... and Lawrence. I wonder when we will get to Yoitsu. It seems we will never get there. Somehow, I feel like that is not too bad. But what could be making me feel that? I looked at Lawrence. Was it him? No, it could not be. Anyone but him! He had many bad characteristics. Lawrence was stubborn and naive. Although, I am just as stubborn as he is. Why am I defending him? He missed all the hints I dropped that I liked him. Wait... I DID NOT DROP ANY HINTS, I DO NOT EVEN LIKE HIM!
"What are you thinking of, Holo?"
"Lawrence, what would you do if a merchant offered you an jewel, but you feel as if there was something wrong yet you can not find any impurities?"
"I would take it. My own assumptions can not stand in the way of basic fact."
"Even if every part of you says no?"
"I would still do it."
"Then tell me this, would you say no to..." I leaned in and kissed him.
