A/N: There was this one fic I wanted to write last year, around spring break. I can't remember much about any of it, so I wrote all I can remember into this drabble, also putting in the normal verse instead of making it AU.
Shenzi was different than the others. Scar always noticed this, but he had ambitions that he absolutely had to fulfill, ambitions that could only be achieved if he kept her as one of his henchman.
Yes, she was different. Being the lone female amongst his main three already set her apart, but there was more. She wasn't super intelligent, but she was smarter than the others, not as much of any idiot at Banzai or Ed.
He saw all of this, he even could have admired it, had he not become hardhearted from his bitterness at being the youngest. So, of course, he ignored that she was different, ignored what feelings he could have had for her.
It was so ironic that, in the end, she helped in his demise.
