If you were to ask a random person on the street if they wanted to be a vampire, there's a good chance that they would say yes. Especially with the ways we have been getting portrayed as in current fiction: Beautiful, sparkling, immortal souls whose only desire is to one day fall in love with a human even though the risk is too great to bear.

If you were to ask this same person what they thought a vampire looked like, especially if they are a teenage girl, you would get this description: So pale they are transparent, so strong they could tear down a building, fast enough to outrun a race car, cold enough to keep you from needing to get ice for your drink and so on. Thankfully though, they at least know that we have to drink blood but they usually get that wrong too.

I fit none of those descriptors to the letter. I'm not that pale. I'm stronger than the average human, yes, but I couldn't bend a piece of steel without power tools. Speed? Again, above average but a car can outrun me. Body temp? Whatever you have the air conditioner set to, that's what I'll be. Blood though, now that is a very different story, so different that I'm not going to tell you about it right now. In a nutshell only human blood works but we don't have to drain our victims dry to get what we need.

Most people seem to think it's some glamorous thing to live forever, never growing old. To those of you that say that, to those that think vampirism is some sort of gift, it's not. Being what I am, what we are, is a curse.

Imagine never being able to have close human friends, better yet imagine outliving your current friends. They will grow old and die while you remain the same, unchanging forever. I've heard that as time goes on you start to lose touch with your humanity, forgetting what it felt like to be human. The things that you liked as a mortal are still there but you can never experience it the same way.

In other words, being a vampire sucks.

What I'm going to be telling you is my short time as a vampire. Don't worry, I still am, but I haven't been one for longer than a year. I will start at the beginning, just a few days before I was turned...

A/N: OK, so for my zombie fans I'm still working on it, I just hit a bit of a block with it so I decided to work on this story instead. For those of you who do not know about the Moonlight vampires and what they do, I'll go into more detail as the story goes.
