Face the Sky
[a.n.] Hope ya likey! I'll leave it up to you to guess who the heck 'I' is and who 'you' is as referred to in my poem. My darling poem – poetry rawks. Came to me in a sudden burst of poetic inspiration. [araclyzm]
I know you made a promise
Because I made one too.
We promised we would return
You to me and me to you.
But something one day happened
That finally made me see
I could not wait forever
Even if we were meant to be.
You see, my love, people change
As often as day becomes night.
I've lived up to my end of the bargain,
But now I must end my fight.
I can't spend my life waiting
And I won't wait anymore
I must move on, though my love still burns
Even though I must close this door.
Maybe one day you'll return
And maybe I'll still love you
But I won't be waiting for that day to come
I think maybe I always knew.
God, it will break my heart
To cut you loose like this.
But I have no other choice,
Because it is you can no longer miss.
I don't know if you can hear this,
But if you do, then know how hard it's to say.
I've tried for far too long, but it's not right anymore
I just know I must break away.
Breaking away is like being let go;
Spreading your wings to fly.
Just remember I love you and always will,
And in reverence, I'll face the sky.
