(A/N: This is a random story that I may extend if it's actually liked. It's in a world where humans don't exist and talking Pokemon prevail. In fact, it could serve as a precursor to a later story. Anyway, enjoy!)

The Boy in the Alley

It all began on a rainy day. A young Chikorita was strolling through the rain soaked streets alongside her mother and father. They had just got some shopping done, and since the market was only a short ways away, they decided to walk. But little did they know that it would rain so severely.

The young Chikorita girl, Chiko, looked into a puddle on the street.

"Chiko, hurry up, you'll catch a cold!" her father turned to his daughter.

"That's right, dear." her mother added.

"Okay Ma! Okay Pa!" she called as she quickly regained her parents' pace.

They'd be home soon, and the prospect of a delicious dinner thrilled the family of three. However, Chiko suddenly halted when she noticed the silhouette of a boy in an alleyway. He appeared to be sitting amongst the discarded furniture tucked away in there.

"Chiko, let's go, we're getting soaked out here!" her mother said as she pulled the girl away. Chiko shook her head and followed her parents' footsteps. Maybe she was just seeing things.

The next day was bright and sunny, a Grass type's ideal weather. Since it was summer vacation, Chiko decided to go out for a bit. With her parents' permission and a bit of pocket change, she decided to walk to the convenience store and purchase a snack.

She strolled the streets, taking in all of the sights. It was the same route that she and her family walked in yesterday, but the somber fog and gray drenched sidewalks have been replaced by a brighter and cheerier atmosphere. It was quite alive that day, many Pokemon on the streets, attending to their businesses.

However, Chiko still couldn't get that strange boy out of her head. Why was he there in a storm? Was he just a figment of her imagination? At most, he was only a year older than her, and that didn't warrant living on one's own. As she contemplated these things she suddenly noticed a familiar sight.

The boy there yet again. Now that it was sunnier, she took more of a notice of his appearance. He was of the Squirtle species, small, light blue skin and a tough shell. However, his appearance looked rather battered.

Chiko paused as she observed him. He simply sat on an abandoned couch. It was when his eyes shifted to Chiko that she moved slightly. She looked at him before she spoke.

"Um hello." She greeted. He simply remained silent.

Chiko decided to continue. "I saw you here yesterday… and it was really rainy out." Yet again, no response.

"Well, uhh…" Chiko couldn't think of much to say. "What's your name, I never seen you in school before."

He turned away from her, signaling that he didn't wish to talk to her. Chiko simply sighed, defeated. "Well, I was hoping that we could be friends. But I guess not." As expected, he didn't respond.

Chiko simply turned around. "Well my name's Chiko. Maybe I caught you at a bad time. I guess we can chat more next time." The Squirtle boy just sat there and Chiko began to walk away. She didn't know where he came from or why he was being so distant, but in her head she had taken upon herself to complete one mission.

'I'm going to become friends with that boy!' she declared in her head as she entered the convenience store.

(So, there it is, sorry that it's short. Feedback is always welcomed. It'll probably become more lighthearted as it goes on. So until next time!)
