Always
-One shot: George/Hermione
"You don't know how hard it is to look in the mirror, and see you."
"You don't understand how badly I need my twin. My other half."
"You don't realize how badly it hurts."
He sat at the stone, staring at the letters that read of his brother's name. He read them. He studied them. And he spoke to the grave that sat in the spot signaling of Frederick Weasley's death. His tear filled eyes blinked, a soft sob erupting from him. "I'll never be able to forget you, our moments, our pranks.. Never." he said quietly, stroking his hand over the gravestone that sat in the ground. The one he saw ever so often. His shoulders shook, another sob erupting from him. His mind couldn't register anything. He felt a soft hand on his back, rubbing circles into it. "It'll be okay." Hermione's soft voice echo'ed in his mind, and she wrapped her arms around him. "You know I miss him too."
The two sat in silence, holding each other, as they mourned the twin of George Weasley. "Your almost all I have now, someone who understands." George had whispered, as they sat in the silence. Hermione had responded, "At least we have each other."
The words that he wished to be erased on the gravestone would never erase, for it was the truth. The date of his birth. The day of his death. His hands shook as they ran over the gravestone a final time, as he backed away from it, his eyes still staring blankly, but filled with tears non the less. Hermione had let out a soft sob, her hand running over the gravestone before taking George's hand in her own. They turned, and they felt the crack in their hearts grow bigger. They felt the snap of the heart, the sob that ached to wreck their bodies, the tears that threatened to fall. They felt the loneliness that circled them, as they held each other and left.
The sadness that spread in the air was almost contagious, the two having tear stains, and George gulping down another sob each moment. Hermione's hoarse voice echo'd in the silence of the two. "Someday, a water balloon will come down from the sky and hit somebody next to you." George smiled slightly as Hermione continued. "And you'll say, 'Thanks Fred. I needed that.' "
A small smile appeared on George's face. The first one in months. He nodded, shoving his hands in his pockets. "He'll always be with us, huh. No matter how hard we try, somewhere inside of us, Fred is there." he mumbled, a slight grin on his face. Hermione nodded, and rested her head on his shoulder.
"Always."
