Broken Men Cry- One shot
Lily/Severus
"You don't know how long I loved you, Severus." Lily had said softly, entangled in Severus' arms as they laid in the grass. "You know I love you as well, Lily." he responded, kissing her hair gently, resting his head on hers. He paused for a few moments, before helping her up. "Lils, can I ask you something?" "Uh, sure, Sev." she responded, a bit confused. "Would you love me even if I died? Even if you moved on, would you always love me someplace in your mind?" he asked quietly, his dark eyes staring at hers curiously. "I would ALWAYS love you. Your my everything. And if you ever died.." she paused, cupping his pale cheek with her small hand. "I would stay by your gravestone and where you were buried, everyday. I would whisper you my worries, and tell you how much I miss you. I would await the end of my life, just to see you again if you ever died. I would tell you I loved you, but I knew that even though you couldn't say it back, you loved me too. I love you so much Severus, and if I moved on, I know that every day I would still visit where you lay, and tell you how my life is and what's happening. And of course how much i love you. I just want to know, Sev... Why are you asking me about this?" she had tears in her green eyes, worrying about what this was about. "I just needed reassurance. Because, Lily Evans? I love you ten times as much as that." he murmured, getting down on one knee. "I know it's cliche for me to be down on one knee.. But.. I felt the need to bend down for my queen. Lily Evans? Will you do me the honor of being my wife?" "Yes." she responded, happy tears slipping down her cheeks, as he slipped the ring onto her finger.
And that's when Severus woke up. His smile that had been on his face slipped away, a sigh, and he closed his eyes, gulping down tears. Reality hits. Tears spring to his eyes. As he realizes, real men don't cry. But broken men do. As the tears slip down from his cheeks, Severus Snape has realized he is a broken man. He lays in bed, sighing and wiping his tears, closing his eyes to join Lily for a while in his dreams.
